Access CardsIf you need to work at the school outside opening hours you must have an access card. This applies only to the TV, radio and IT rooms. The other rooms are locked. You can obtain an access card from the Reception. Remember to take your student card with you as you will have to show it.

AuditoriumsThe school has three auditoriums.

Book an IT-roomThe IT rooms are pre booked for every course where computers are needed; otherwise they are free for use.

Auto AttendanceOn most courses, attendance and participation in classes are compulsory, and you are personallyresponsible for ensuring that your attendance is registered in the Auto Attendance module in Moodle. Go into the course classroom in Moodle. You are registered as soon as you are logged in on course room OG and are on the school’s IP address. You need not do anything else. You can open Auto Attendance yourself to check that you are correctly registered. Please be aware that if you have more than one course on any particular day then you must log in to each classroom to ensure your attendance is registered for each course. If you are in any doubt whether attendance and participation are compulsory you can see this in the course description for individual courses.

Building and Facilities DepartmentLockers Lockers are available in the 200 corridor. You may use the lockers for a limited or extended period. You will need a padlock to secure the lockers. Padlocks may be purchased from reception for DKK 40. The school accepts no liability for the loss or theft of any personal effects. All lockers will be emptied at the end of the semester on 1st July or 1st of January

Extension CordsTo charge computers, telephones etc, you might need to bring a 5 metre extension cord. Unfortunately, there is only a limited number of power outlets in the classrooms. In the auditoriums, you will find power outlets under the desks and along the walls.

LibraryAs a student, you are welcome in the library; no matter whether you are in Aarhus or in Copenhagen. You can borrow books, and use the electronic resources or the various teaching facilities available in connection with your course.

Librarians can also provide help, for example, in connection with: guidance on textbooks, relevant databases, and relevant websites. They can also order books and articles required for examination projects, from other libraries, and provide brush-up courses on information searching.

Besides the databases on the website it is possible to use a couple of databases with pictures and sound. To get access you have to contact the library ([email protected])

Music, free access Danish School of Media and Journalism has an agreement with Apollo Music which gives stu-dents and teachers free access to music to school related projects. The projects may be present-ed at Youtube, social mecia, the school library and at film festivals.

FindTheTune.comApollo offers DMJX free use of music from our music database; FindtheTune.com for all projects without commercials. FindTheTune.com is a music search machine with more than 350 000 tracks from professional composers aimed at AV production. The database contains everything from classical music with the London Philharmonics, pop to film music. Music from all over the world is represented. We have the music you need at www.findthetune.comYou may listen to, download, test and use all the mucic you want from this website.

P PhotographyWhen you employ photographs in your documents you must always compress your files.The photographs must take up the smallest space possible.On the net you can find free picture editing programs such as Picasa, for example.

– Photos for the web, Word and similar, should never be larger than 250 Kb.

– Another important point is that you must always ensure that you have the right to use the photographs. Ensure that you always obtain written permission from the copyright owner to use the photographs. Remember also that the photograph must always be credited.

B/W Darkroom is located in room 809 (see the map on page 21)

Office 365Notice that you will receive a mail with a login to Office 365. You will be able to download office applications for free. Notice Office 365 will be closed when you no longer study at DMJX.

OneDriveThe school supplies every student with 1 TB OneDrive space.

JPGJPG is one of the most commonly used picture formats and works in almost all applications.

CMYKCMYK is the designation for print colours cyan, magenta, yellow and key colour (black).

Radioland

Radioland is located just inside the door, by the North entrance.Here, among other things, you will find a classroom for teaching radio, 4 group rooms, and 1 studio.

Students are able to borrow Olympus LS10 and LS11.We use Hindenburg for editing. Hindenburg is available both for Mac and PC.Students are able to install Hindenburg at their computer as long as they have a DMJX email address.Enter Moodle. At the front page to the left you will find: Single-Sign-On.If you are at the school, you click at @DMJXif you are at home, you click at @Home.Here you will be able to find a link to Hindenburg.

Radioland is primarily reserved for radio students.

GenlüdIn the concrete dungeon of Radioland you will find the home of the only live media at the Danish School of Media and Journalism. Genlüd broadcasts about 25 hours live radio every week. It is volunteer based and driven by a love of radio. We proudly provide international students with the skills needed to join us and start their own weekly show. If you are interested, please contact the editors. It´s your unique chance to contribute to the long tradition of the international show on Genlüd.

Omlüd Is a monthly radio magazine. Here you can learn to coax the good story out of your material, record the sound of a summer breeze, and get good interview training and regular feedback on your stories from the editors. They will teach you everything, from how close you hold the microphone to your source’s nose, to how you get the best sound in Hindeburg when you get home. And you just need to turn up to one of the monthly idea exchanges to join in.

The reception desk staff answers calls to the school’s main number, transfers calls, handing out access cards, sell readers, stationery, publications from Forlaget Ajour (DMJX publishing house), and other course related books.

They accepts the following credit cards: Dankort, Visa, Visa Electron, Mastercard, Maestro and JCB. You can only pay by card in the Reception.

Rules in the It-roomsNever eat or drink sitting next to the computer - use tables without computers.Never leave valuable items when you leave the room. Clear up when you leave, and consider the others working in the room. For access to IT rooms outside opening hours see ”Access-card”.

Save

The desktop is part of the harddisk. It is your own responsibility to make back-up copies of your files.Remember that everybody has access to the computers.

Place the device in the computer and save to the stick.

TV Department

The TV department is open to the 3rd, 7th, and 8th semester students, and international classes.

The department uses Final Cut Pro X.

MPEG4: All completed videos must be submitted as MPEG4 (H.264)

On Moodle you will find an English manual on Final Cut Pro X. Additionally, if you have any further questions you can contact Hans Bromand Nørgård at telephone number 89 440 406 or at [email protected]

If you wants to work in the TV-department outside opening hours, please contact the reception in their opening hours for an access card. Monday-Thursday 08:00-15:30, Friday 08:00-14:00

The TV department´s computers are primarily reserved for TV students.

Here you hand in exam assignments and here you are able to see your grades after the exam has been graded.You will receive an email in your DMJX email account with a direct link every time you are part of an exam flow.You are also able to access WISEflow here: http://dmjx.wiseflow.dk/ and you log in via your dmjx email login.

WordPress/Mediajungle

WordPress/Mediajungle is the school’s access to WordPress. You may set up as many sites as you wish; the only requirement is that the sites are related to the school or to the assignments you have given.
