The maximum print/copy speed for the system is limited by the process speed of the Xerox® Color 550/560 engine and by the distance travelled by the media. As with any copier or printer, maximum print speed will not be attained when pulling paper from multiple trays or when system is expanded to include optional finishers and feeders.

As a printer / copier, the Xerox® Color 550/560 is a document printer; therefore, in reverse order (face-up) printing the print engine will not cycle up until the entire job is ready. This will impact First Copy Out Time (FCOT). The printer may cycle down between each job depending on job complexity.

When printing, overall system performance (‘Click to Clunk’ time) is primarily dependent upon the software applications and network environment being used. Rasterizing (RIP-ing) is only a small fraction of Click to Clunk time.

The Xerox® Color 550/560 enables accurate billing of black and white and color copied pages.

Scanning Specifications – Xerox® Color 550/560 Printer The Xerox® Color 550/560 has a maximum scan resolution of 600 dpi in the fast scan & slow scan direction.

Item 200 dpi 600 dpi BW Mode (1bit) (Simplex Scan) 100 (dpm) 100 (dpm)

Color Mode (24bit)(Simplex Scan) 50 (dpm) 8 (dpm)

Print Quality & Color Management The appearance of the document displayed on the

monitor screen may not match the output print because the monitor uses RGB color space parameters.

The customer is responsible for calibrating the Xerox® Color 550/560.

For imported RGB images, optimal color is achieved in the EPS format. Other imported file formats may produce unexpected results.

The specification for color to color mis-registration is equal to or less than 95 microns, evaluated on either 1) Xerox Digital Color Xpressions + 90gsm/ 24lb uncoated paper or 2) Xerox Colour Colotech + Gold 90gsm uncoated paper. Color to color mis-registration may vary outside of the specification when using heavyweight papers above 90gsm.

Volume Range / Position / Performance The Xerox® Color 550/560 is designed to produce consistent, uniform looking color images and to operate in the range of 10,000 – 50,000 copies or prints per month. The number of copies or prints between service calls on a digital color copier / printer is highly dependent on customer expectations of image quality and the type of throughput materials used. At an average usage of 24,000 copies or prints (70% color / 30% mono) per month, it is expected that service will be required about once every 9 weeks.

The Xerox® Color 550/560 has a duty cycle of 300,000 copies or prints per month. Recommended Materials List Customers may obtain a copy of the Xerox Recommended Materials List for the Xerox® Color 550/560 by going to the Xerox Paper Resource Center: <http://www.xerox.com/printer-supplies/paper-stock/enus.html> and following the Helpful Resources links found on the left side of the screen. Image Quality The Xerox® Color 550/560 is designed to produce a uniform image. However, Color Image Quality is subjective and can be impacted by lighting, and is strongly influenced by paper (consult the Recommended Materials List). Color consistency of DeltaE ! 7 within a page

The Xerox® Color 550/560 employs a very wide media latitude. Feeding heavyweight stocks will result in a higher than normal amount of paper curl. The resulting paper curl can provide difficulties if precision cutting of the printed sheets is required.

performance in this document are based on these papers.

Using coated (e.g., glossy, matte coated or photo finished / proofing) and/ or extra heavyweight (i.e., >90lb Index / 176 gsm) stock may result in degraded reliability performance for the Xerox® Color 550/560. Customers using these materials exclusively or extensively will see decreased performance as it relates to image quality and product reliability.

Attempts to feed heavier than recommended paper stocks, and/or misuse of the media settings, may cause machine damage or poor image quality. Using media at run modes other than that recommended for the grade may cause poor image quality and serious machine damage.

Environmental conditions may require that coated paper be fed one at a time through Tray 5 (Bypass). Relative Humidity greater than 40% could cause multi-feeds. Output may require removal at 25 sheets in the tray when not using a finisher. Gloss variation can occur from machine rolls, especially on high area coverage prints. OHCF is recommended for high humidity (>40%) environments. 100lb text generally performs better than 80lb text.

The system does not prohibit running coated substrates from the internal trays (Trays 1-4); however, there can be a significant increase in jams or multi-feeds. If large quantities of coated paper are to be run, the OHCF is recommended for paper feeding.

When using 11’” x 17” stock, closing Trays 1-2 with too much force will result in a paper size misread. Open and close the tray gently to allow the paper sensors to correctly identify paper size.

The maximum print/copy speed for the system is determined by the process speed of the Xerox® Color 550/560 engine; image quality adjustments are done frequently to maintain consistent IQ.

As a printer / copier, the Xerox® Color 550/560 is a document printer; therefore, in reverse order (face-up) printing the print engine will not cycle up until the entire job is ready. This will impact First Copy Out Time

(FCOT). The printer may cycle down between each job depending on job complexity.

When printing, overall system performance (‘Click to Clunk’ time) is primarily dependent upon the software applications and network environment being used. Rasterizing (RIP-ing) is only a small fraction of Click to Clunk time.

If the requested finishing is outside machine capabilities, jobs may be held at the print server.

45-36x faults may occur intermittently. The expected frequency is approximately once every 20,000 prints or once a month, depending on print volume. To recover, power off and power on the printer.

If the machine stops running mid-job, or does not begin printing after a job is submitted, check the Machine Status/Supplies screen to determine if supplies need to be replaced. The system will stop if sufficient supplies are not available for a submitted job. If the problem persists, check the Machine

Status/Fault screen, select the fault, and click on the Instructions button.

The system does not prohibit duplexing coated and heavyweight 2 substrates; however, there may be an increase in jams. If problems occur, switch to manual duplex.

If the adjustment arms are disturbed while re-loading paper in Tray 5, the paper size setting will return to default and cause job to stop until the paper size setting is corrected by the user.

If the paper is changed while the machine is in Sleep Mode, the machine may not register the change in paper size. If this occurs, first open the side paper guide to the largest size, close and re-open the tray, then adjust the side paper guide to the correct size.

Envelopes The Xerox 550/560 currently supports running the following European and Asian envelopes through Tray 5:

Envelope Type Feed Direction Envelope Size (mm)

Envelope C4* SEF 229.0x324.0 Envelope C5** SEF 162.0x229.0

*Opening/flap on the envelope's short dimension accepts A4 flat, A3 folded in half

**Opening/flap on the envelope’s short dimension accepts A4 folded in half Envelopes must be placed with the opened flap set as trail edge. These envelope sizes are available within Tray 5-paper size defaults within tools, and should be run using media type heavyweight 2 face-up.
