Management in SAP

In the production part approval process for VDA 2 and QS 9000 as well as for ISO/ TS 16949 PPF, a great many documents and inspection reports are generated, as is much data. xft ppap fi le not only helps to exchange this information across company boundaries and store it in a structured way; it also controls the entire quality inspection process integrated with SAP. As a result, xft ppap fi le offers increased process security and ensures that a production part really does meet all development requirements and specifi cations.

Integrating your business processes

New inspection fi les for individual materials or components can be created using the bill of ma-terial, the reference to the supplier, or straight from a PPAP planning fi le. In the inspection fi le, the ongoing process is documented with all the associated information. Every change to the fi le or in parts of the fi le, from the documents to the fi le information, is automatically logged. To create inspection plans, technical drawings can be incorporated directly or by using the document management system (DMS) in SAP PLM. With the help of additional software, di-mensions can be extracted from the ballooned drawing and automatically transferred to the in-spection plan. When all inspection and release processes are complete, the part submission warrant (PSW) and the PPAP package are gener-ated automatically and made available centrally in the fi le.

xft ppap fi le maps the quality inspection pro-cess for production parts using an electronic fi le in SAP. The quality management standards ISO/TS 16949 PPF, QS 9000, and VDA 2 are support-ed. In addition, these standards can be adapted to your organization’s own requirements, so that PPAP and quality inspections meet tailored, company-specifi c norms as well.

For each initial sampling inspection, the system creates an inspection fi le which maps the pro-cess from either the customer or the supplier side, as desired. Several inspection fi les can be combined to form a PPAP planning fi le, to retain an overview of inspections that belong together.

xft ppap fi le supports not only the structured storage of information, but also controls the entire quality inspection process – from initial sampling inspection, through documentation of the inspection results and any possible rein-spection, to ppap approval and submission. If, for example, during initial sampling inspection individual values exceed the permitted toler-ance, resampling is automatically triggered. The system informs users automatically about incoming reports and enables to easily ex-change requirements, attachments, and results, both within the system and across systems and companies. Predefi ned inspection and release workfl ows as well as checklists ensure that, ul-timately, all requirements in the part approval process are met.

SAP IntegrationBecause xft ppap fi le is fully integrated with SAP, you can access all PPAP processes and status information fast and easily, directly from your tried-and-true SAP environment. Conversely, you can jump straight from the fi le to other SAP modules and processes whenever you like. Inspection plans are also generated right from the fi le. Furthermore, all the header and detailed data are available for searches and evaluations.

Integration of CAD, Microsoft Offi ce, and File SystemThe integrated template management feature of xft ppap fi le enables users to generate – for example – inspection reports based on a Word template straight from the fi le. With the help of xft document connec-tor, existing documents can be imported easily to the fi le from the fi le system using drag and drop. E-mails and e-mail attachments can also be transferred to the fi le in this way. To create inspection plans, stamped measurements from existing technical drawings can be extracted and au-tomatically transferred to the inspection plan (using add-on software).

Document Management IncludedTo create documents such as measurement logs, inspection plans, and in-spection results, an integrated document management feature with tem-plate management is available. This means you can create Microsoft Of-fi ce documents and interactive PDF forms that already contain inspection data. What’s more, the use of interactive PDF forms and the integration of SAP cFolders enable data to be exchanged rapidly and simply between customers and suppliers.
