Circuit Thresholds Exceeded in the last 14 days

The XO Stats home page also shows you any Circuits that have exceeded at least one of 5

pre-set thresholds over the previous 14 days.

Four of the five thresholds monitored have a default defined, which can be changed (see

instructions under “My Profile” page 31). ESIP sessions do not have a default and thresholds

must be customer defined.

The five thresholds monitored are:

• High Circuit Utilization. The default value is 80%.

• Low Circuit Utilization. The default is 0%, and this threshold is triggered if no

data passes across the circuit (not even the keep alive signal). This generally

indicates a down circuit condition. The default is set to generate an alert after 5

consecutive 5-minute periods with no usage. For customers that subscribe to

the Managed Router service, more robust reporting is available in the Uptime

Deviation report – see above: Managed Services (MS) Uptime Deviation Features

(Managed Router service).

• Error Packets. The default is set to 90 errored packets. XO Stats takes a

snapshot of packet errors that have been counted in the PE router’s register

every 5 minutes. The register is reset to zero after each 5 minute snapshot. An

alert is generated when two snapshots in a row show 90+ errors.

• Discard Packets. The XO network edge router takes a snapshot of packet

errors every 5 minutes. An alert is generated when two snapshots in a row show

90 errors, and the threshold is exceeded in the second snapshot (in this case, by

the 91st packet in the second snapshot). The register is then re-set to zero.

• ESIP sessions. The threshold must be customer defined. This metric is

triggered if the number of ESIP sessions exceeds the set threshold.

Page 10: XO Stats User Guide...• Account – account number associated with the Access Circuit. • Asset Name (Access circuit ID) – if the high utilization threshold has been reached over

Changing Threshold Defaults

You may change pre-set thresholds (defaults) under ‘My Profile’ from the Nav bar at top.

From the SubNav bar, select ‘Update Threshold Setting’ to adjust the pre-sets for:

• High Circuit Utilization

• Low Circuit Utilization

• Error Packets

• Discard Packets

From the SubNav bar, select ‘Update ESIP Threshold Setting’ to adjust the default pre-sets for ESIP.

While the high circuit utilization value is a percentage, ESIP sessions reflect the actual number of

sessions.

10. Service Level Report XO Service Level Scorecard – Layer 3

The XO scorecard is not customer or circuit specific, but denotes the parameters of the reported

Page 28: XO Stats User Guide...• Account – account number associated with the Access Circuit. • Asset Name (Access circuit ID) – if the high utilization threshold has been reached over

© 2018 XO Communications Services, LLC - a Verizon Company. All rights reserved. XO Stats: User Guide / 28

attributes within the XO network, measured from edge to edge. If XO is within its contractual

obligation, the scorecard shows green Compliant status. If XO is not within its contractual

obligations, the scorecard shows red Non-Compliant status. If a non-compliant status is reported,

you must call XO Customer Care within five days after the end of the full reporting month. A full

reporting month is 30 to 31 days from the first day of the month. The Actual column represents the

attained performance level of that particular attribute during the previous calendar month. To drill

down to a specific day/week/month, click on the parameter you wish more detailed information

on.

Other features of the scorecard include:

• Latency: This field reports the time it takes for data to travel over the XO

services network between XO POPs. The two metrics shown are Actual

and Contracted. Actual will display the time data is actually travelling over

XO Communications network. Contracted will always display the

contractual obligation of 65 milliseconds average or less. The Latency text

doubles as a hyperlink. When clicked, it will take users to a Line graph

displaying the throughput against the 65 millisecond average. Latency

milliseconds represented by green line.

• Packet Loss: This field displays a percentage of packet loss against all

traffic during the reporting period. Packet Loss attributes to the latency of a

circuit. It is reported solely as a value-added feature and has no bearing on

a Service Level Agreement contained in the customer contract. The Packet

Loss text doubles as a hyperlink, when clicked it will take the user to a Line

graph displaying the packet success rate average for reporting period. The

packet success rate is represented by blue l ine.

• Jitter: Jitter is a measure of how much a ping varies over a period of time.

Lower jitter is better because it means your pings and connection are more

stable. It is reported solely as a value-added feature and has no bearing on

a Service Level Agreement contained in the customer contract. The Jitter

text doubles as a hyperlink, when clicked it will take the user to a Line graph

displaying the jitter average for reporting period.

BGP Route Test The BGP Route test will display the BGP

broadcast internal to the XO Network

and to any external ISP with which the

route needs to communicate. Information

in the results page will show various IPs

internal to XO’s backbone and/or

external ISP. Community systems and

Autonomous Systems that are

responsible for broadcasting BGP routes

are also displayed. You can choose a

Core Node and enter an IP address in the

Prefix field. To execute, click the Get

12. My Profile My Profile is where parameters are set for threshold notifications, both in setting the threshold

values, and setting up email distributions where those alerts are to be sent.

Under My Profile, there are three sub menus.

• Notification Information allows for customer to enter email addresses (up to 200

characters) for individual parameters, or all parameters. The customer may also select the

frequency for sending notifications: hourly/daily/weekly/monthly.

Page 32: XO Stats User Guide...• Account – account number associated with the Access Circuit. • Asset Name (Access circuit ID) – if the high utilization threshold has been reached over

• Update Threshold Setting allows the customer to change the default values for each of

the 4 parameters listed. The customer may also change the default value in the Count

column.

XO polls the network in 5 minute snapshots. A series of sequential snapshots in which the

threshold was exceeded will cause an alert to be sent to the customer. The customer can

determine the number of snapshots in sequence to trigger such an alert. The default for all

4 parameters is set to 2 snapshots, but may be modified.

These values are applicable globally to all of the customer circuits, but per the instructions

on the bottom, you can set them circuit by circuit, if required.

• Update ESIP Threshold Setting allows the customer to create a threshold for ESIP

sessions. There is no default, the customer must input both a value (number of sessions,

not a percent) and a count. These values are applicable globally to all of the customer

circuits, but per the instructions on the bottom, you can set them circuit by circuit, if

required.
