¤ Unemployment - a root cause of insurgency and drug addiction in the NE
¤ Patronage of conventional careers (Medical and Engineering) without consideration of the student’s aptitude due to lack of awareness of new career options

¤ Identifying Five bright but financially deprived students from Class XI.
¤ Providing them with MENTORSHIP for the period till they sit for their XIIth exam; help them make the right career choice, groom them for the entrance exams etc.
¤ Depending on who gets into which stream, provide financial support via SCHOLRSHIP.
¤ Why Five?
¤ Since, this will be our pilot project, we thought it wise to focus on quality /creating an impact than on numbers.

¤ Two mentors per student for a defined time period (depending on project launch date) with at least one residing in India
¤ One-on-one mentorship over the phone, email¤ Mentor to drive the association, initiate, lead¤ All calls to be made by the mentor – the mentee is free to call¤ Call frequency: At least one call a fortnight by the mentor¤ If at any point of time during the defined tenure, the mentor wants to
discontinue the mentorship – he/she has to find a suitable replacement¤ Every Mentor-Mentee team will have a core team member from
Xomidhan who’ll be connecting with the said team regularly and sharing Monthly updates with the rest of Xomidhan (at [email protected]). Depending on this core team member’s feedback – Xomidhan will decide the road ahead for each Mentor-Mentee team

¤ Xomidhan will not sponsor their education; will provide only financial support
¤ Scholarship amount will be decided based on the stream chosen by the student and thorough evaluation of how much financial aid will do. In any case it will not exceed Rs. 50,000 per student.
¤ The scholarship amount will be released as per the recommendation of the mentor and requirement of the student .
¤ At the end of one year – depending on the performance of the student / feedback by mentors Xomidhan will take a call on whether to continue with the scholarship + mentorship or not.

¤ Students:
- Students studying in Class XI in any recognized institute (any medium) located in the state of Assam
- Students with consistent good academic record from class VIII onwards (80% percentage or above)
- Total family (inclusive of all earning members in the family) income should be less than INR 1.75 lacs.
¤ Mentors: - Those who are ready to devote time and commitment required to make this project a success

¤ We will advertise in the print / online media¤ Students will be required to submit an application with:
i. Cover letter on why he/she should be selectedii. Essays on two given topicsiii. Family income proof iv. Two recommendation letters (one from teacher, other from Principal
of the school)
¤ - After due evaluation, we will be shortlisting 10 students who will then go through telephonic / one on one interviews (as per convenience) before we make the final selection *

¤ If you believe you have what it will take to be a part of this project as a mentor, please write back to us. Though the project requirement is for 10 volunteers, we will need to ready few volunteers as standby in case some unprecedented issues crop up
¤ We are counting on our counselor network for the scholarship fund and we hope you will donate generously. We will share all details with all of you.
