is now being investigated by the Police Taxi Violence Task team.

C o m m e n t i n g o n t h e incident, MEC Mchunu, called for calm and restraint, saying police are working to find the perpetrators of this heinous deed.

“We strongly condemn the murder of Mr. Sokhela and any other incidents of violence. At this state it is not clear whether this incident is linked to disputes in the taxi industry or it is an isolated incident of criminality. We appeal for calm and restraint a s p o l i c e a r e n o w investigating this murder case. We wish to send our deepest condolences to the Sokhela family and the entire taxi industry fraternity.” said Mchunu.

He further urged members of the public who have the information to work with the police and appealed for those c o n c e r n e d t o a v o i d speculating on the possible cause of the killing.

Mchunu sa id i t was disturbing that another member of the association was killed within a few months after the killing of K w a M a p h u m u l o t a x i association Chairperson, Chris Ngiba, who was ambushed last year at his home in Pinetown.

KDM “on top” of debtors listBy Xpress Reporter

T h e K w a D u k u z a Municipality's initiative in bending over backwards in its Debtors Incentive Scheme whereby individuals, trusts, government departments and businesses owe in excess of R 1 000 000 in some cases, has raised the ire of the business sector.

The Xpress Times were inundated with calls and emails when council released the updated list of “Top 1000 debtors.”

The business sector feels that they are subsidising the accrued debt while the indigent and disenfranchised are always getting their electricity and water services

Anti Illegal Abortion March heldACTIVISTS: The Department of Health KZN hosted an Anti Illegal Abortion March on Tuesday, 26 April 2016. Seen are some of the participants outside Stanger Hospital

A mega tribute show to the late and legendary Freddy Mercury & Queen will take place at the Barnyard Theatre at the Gateway Theatre of S h o p p i n g o n Wednesday, 4 May 2016 at 7:30pm.

Music and songs of Queen as well as songs from Freddy Mercury's solo career will feature in a show that will see t h e K w a D u k u z a Resource Centre receive much needed funds to sustain its operations.

In 1999 there was a survey in Britain to find out the top 100 artists of the 20th century.

Freddy Mercury and Queen were placed second with the Beatles taking the first place.

Tickets are priced at R155 each or a special price of R140 each (if four or more tickets are purchased) and are available from the KwaDukuza Resource Centre. Contact: 032 551 6251.

cut immediately. Is it fair when a person who

is living from paycheck to paycheck or a senior citizen receiving grant gets cut off when they miss a single payment.

KZN's top debtor, an individual, owes KDM in excess of R 5 million with four others trailing by amounts in excess of R 1 million and include a local government department among the top five.

We asked the question: “The man on the street is b e i n g d e a l t w i t h IMMEDIATELY for non-payment as opposed to individuals and businesses owing KDM more than a

million rand. Please allay public fears that nepotism is not the case here…”

“In respect of the debt collection procedures that are currently being undertaken, we practice fair treatment to all KwaDukuza customers or consumers at large. In support of this statement, debtors that have been mentioned to be owing the municipality substantial amounts have already been handed over to Council's panel of attorneys for collection,” said KDM Corpora te Di rec tor o f Communications Mr Sifiso Zulu.

On whether ratepayers will foot the massive R 44 162 801.02 debt (in excess of R 44

million)Zulu said that the total

outstanding debt of R44 162 801.02 being owed by the top 50 consumer debtors will be recovered through section 66 attachment of a debtors i m m o v a b l e p r o p e r t y however, it shall be noted that the legal proceedings are very l e n g t h y , t h e r e f o r e KwaDukuza rates payers who are not affected by this debt will not bear the burden of the debt.

“Furthermore this will not be recovered from the increase in rates and services charges for the next financial year, 2016/2017. All legal cost incurred are recovered from the respective debtors

that are handed over for collection,” he said.

“The majority of the top 50 consumer debtors are at the legal proceeding, however the legal stage per individual matter varies due to the fact that each matter has its own merits. With regards to Estate late matters, it shall be noted that Council is restricted from pursuing legal action if the executor of the estate has not been appointed, therefore in terms of Council Credit Control and debt collection policy, we currently enforce debt collection mechanisms through disconnection of electricity and blocking of prepaid electricity meter,” said Zulu.

At the outset, CEO of Edison Property Division, Pregan Naicker assured the people that “we are not building a casino.”

All sorts of ethnic based discrimination has taken place with some attributing the delay of the Ratepayers organisation to the issue as well.

The public got to see the development in detail via a projection presentation with commentary by Naicker. He spoke of retail giants, clothing stores, restaurants, a hospital and much more.

T h e o p p o r t u n i t y f o r questions were taken up by many people from the ruling party who asked questions that people only dare mention on social media.

T h e A N C ' s S a n e l e Mthiyane had to remind Naicker to speak off the

Although some questions were not answered, Naicker did hold provide tangible arguments.

The people were just happy to hear of the jobs that would be created in the building stages right up until the complet ion by way of cheering.

The argument of bringing in more factories was made before Naicker to which he said that “we looked at this and saw a mixed use d e v e l o p m e n t a s m o r e feasible.”

The Mayor also said that Vutha Sports field was being renovated and urged youth to participate in different sports activities.

“The Department of Transport is also striving to ensure that both the renovation of Vutha Bridge and the completion of road c o n s t r u c t i o n , w h i c h w a s launched by the Honourable Willies Mchunu (MEC for Transport and Community Safety), is being considered as the first priority.”

“There is a bag limit of eight per person per day, of which all of the animals in your possession must be of a minimum legal size limit of 65mm. No one may fish for east coast rock lobster during the closed season (November 1 to the last day in February).”

Ezemvelo found Dube in possession of 21 east coast rock lobster (crayfish) on the beach at Chaka's Rock on May 4 last year. He was arrested and charged by their officers for exceeding his daily bag limit of crayfish by 13 and also for possession of one undersized crayfish.

R a c i s m , h a t e s p e e c h a n d discrimination are the worst societal ills. While racism is condemned worldwide, its existence in South Africa is more appalling given our history of apartheid and our liberation there from. It is regrettable that we find basic humanity lacking in many humans and as a responsible society, we must use all means at our disposal to educate and reform such people.

The problem of racism is not something new. It was widespread in the early days of Islam, some 14 centuries back. Islam addressed this problem by holding man to a higher standard, a Divine Standard.

The Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) in his sermon at the conquest of Makkah, stated, “O Mankind! Indeed God Almighty has done away with the haughtiness of the Days of Ignorance and its vain boasting of one's ancestry. Mankind is of two

Islam and racismtypes: The moral, upright one, honourable in the sight of God Almighty and the immoral, sinful one, worthless in the sight of God Almighty. All mankind are the children of Adam and God Almighty created Adam from sand. God, the Almighty, states, 'O Mankind! We created you from a male and a female and made you into nations and tribes so that you may come to know each other. The noblest among you in sight of God Almighty is the most righteous. God Almighty is All-Knowing, All-Aware.” (Tirmizi)

The fight against racism begins with conquering the hatred and racism within ourselves. A better society is made when its people become better. Islam had produced the formula for combating racism 1400 years ago. It thus befits Muslims to be the leading example for the rest of the world.

Celebrating Freedom Day

World MalariaDay observedBy Xpress Reporter

People across the globe took part in a wide range of activities to mark World Malaria Day on 25 April 2016.

Malaria continues to claim the lives of millions of people, especially in the poorest parts of the world or third world countries.

Malaria is caused by Plasmodium parasites. The parasites are spread to people through the bites of infected Anopheles mosquitoes, called"malaria vectors", which bitemainly between dusk and dawn. There are four parasite species that c a u s e m a l a r i a i n h u m a n s :P l a s m o d i u m f a l c i p a r u m ,Plasmodium vivax, Plasmodium malariae and Plasmodium ovale.

Millions of malaria cases and a vast number of deaths occur every year. World Malaria Day is a day for recognizing the global effort to provide effective control of malaria.

It gives people the chance to promote and/or learn about the efforts made to prevent and reduce the disease around the world.

This is a chance to highlight the advances that have already been made in malaria prevention and control, and to commit to continued investment and action to accelerate progress against this deadly disease.

W o r l d M a l a r i a D a y w a sestablished and approved at the 60th World Health Assembly (WHA) in March 2007. The theme for 2016 is “End Malaria for Good.”

ILLS AND ASTHMA: Zamani residents in Darnall have claimed that sewerage leaks are affecting a suburb

where mostly senior citizens reside - is affecting their health. Community activist and aspirant candidate, Roy Naidoo said that he has been grappling with authorities for months explaining that mostly Asthma sufferers are

segregation and white minority rule and the establishment of a new democratic government and a new state subject to a new constitution.

The elections were the first non-racial national elections where everyone of voting age of over 18 from any race

group was allowed to vote. Prev ious ly , under the apartheid regime, non-whites had only limited rights to vote.

T h e A N C ( A f r i c a n National Congress) was voted into power and Nelson Mandela was elected as the first democratic President of South Africa. On this day people pay tribute to all those who sacrificed their lives in pursuit of liberation for South Africa.

Va r i o u s e v e n t s a n d celebrations take place across the country to mark this historic event.

Freedom day highlights the struggles and obstacles that South Africans faced in their fight against inequality, and is a celebratory event for all South Africans as we now live in a democratic land.

The holiday also pays homage to our unique and remarkably detailed and inc lus ive cons t i t u t ion including a Bill of Rights. The document is widely recognized and guarantees all those within South African borders the freedom from the oppression that ruled the past.

The officials found 57 whoonga straws in his possession at 07:30 before he could open shop for business. Khetani Mnqayi (36) is due back at court on 25 May. In an unrelated incident, officers also arrested Thembalakhe Dube (27) who had 300 straws of whoonga in his possession. Bail has been opposed in his case.

Ntshawini woman's abuse at the hands of her w h o o n g a a d d i c t boyfriend led her to obtain a protection order. However, when police accompanied her to his home, he was not there. The mother of the abuser advised police to leave the victim with her so she could sort out the problem. After police left, she became abusive towards the victim and ordered her to leave the house with her baby and her belongings. The son who was hiding in the house began to assault her and burnt her with a heated knife blade. Nthuthuko Mcwango (20) has been remanded in custody. His mother

could also face charges for her role in the matter.

Honest roguePolice patrolling the Ntshawini area at about

10pm were surprised to find a youth carrying a large flat screen television set. When questioned about the item he began providing officers with various explanations. He finally conceded that he had stolen the television during March and was going to meet a buyer. Siyanda Hlope (22) was charged for being in possession of stolen property. Police will attempt to link the item to the rightful owner. In the meantime, he was granted bail and is due at court again on 21 June.

Seen in the darkThree armed robbers who held up a couple at 2am

believed no-one would see them. Unfortunately for them they were spotted damaging the lighting of their victims' house by a troubled sleeper. Jeremiah Ndlovu alleges his door was kicked open and he and his wife were threatened with firearms in the dark. The culprits used their cellphone light to remove a cellphone and television set from their victims. With the help of the witness, Siyabonga Dlamini (25) and Bongani Mkhize (26) were arrested. Both will seek bail on 5 May as they have other cases against them.

Major disasterCindy Dube of Groutville returned to her house to

find the premises broken into. Clothing and shoes to the value of R5000 was missing. She spread the word around the area. That afternoon she was at the taxi rank and noticed a local youth with her property. She alerted police, and Sboniso Major Sabelo (31) was apprehended. Most of her stolen property was recovered. Sabelo is expected back at court on 6 May to seek bail.

The inter-school maths competition hosted by the L o w e r T u g e l a M a t h s Association (LTMA) at Stanger Heights Primary School on Wednesday and Thursday, 20 and 21 April was a huge success with more than 20 schools participating in the 2016 maths showpiece.

Isaac Abraham, President of LTMA, was ecstatic with the performance of the learners. Abraham said: “The standard was very high and it is pleasing to note that the bar is raised each year. Our learners have tremendous potential and their confidence in mathematics was evident from their outstanding performance.”

He was thrilled with the performance of learners from Harry Bodasingh, Radha Roopsingh, Melville, Stanger Heights, Ashram, Enkukwini, Dawnview, KwaDukuza and Manor Primary School who were able to secure a podium finish in both games (Math-a-Move and Top 20).

The top three achievers will be honoured at an awards presentation ceremony at the KwaDukuza Town Hall in November. LTMA will be hosting a problem solving workshop for educators (grades three to seven) next month in preparation for the inter-school maths relay/challenge. For further information regarding the maths workshop and maths relay/challenge, contact Isaac Abraham on 079 4280 345.

Every time you get behind the wheel, there's an opportunity to save. Improve the fuel economy of your car with these 11 tips.

· Check Your Tyre Pressure: Under-inflated tyres increase rolling resistance between your vehicle and the road. Inflated tyres decrease rolling resistance between your vehicle and the road. Correctly inflated tyres resu l t s increased mi leage of approximately 3.3%. Under-inflated tyres are not only dangerous, they increase the rolling resistance between the vehicle's tyres and the road. To overcome the extra drag, the engine will have to work harder and therefore consume more fuel.

· Service Your Car Regularly: A badly maintained vehicle is unlikely to perform at it is designed to. Problems such as partially blocked filters, poor oil performance and emissions control

systems defects may occur. These and other factors will prevent your engine from functioning as well the manufacturer intended it to, which can result in increased fuel consumption.

· Reduce Your Drag: Any external fixings such as roof boxes, their rails and bike racks should be removed when not in use. They change airflow over the vehicle and increase the aerodynamic draft. Opening sunroofs and windows will also increase air drag over the car. This means a great force is needed to drive the vehicle through the air, requiring extra power from your e n g i n e , a n d i n c r e a s i n g f u e l consumption and emissions.

· Use High Quality Fuels: Using high quality fuels, such as BP Ultimate, will allow the vehicle to run more efficiently, enabling improved combustion quality thus reducing fuel consumption and lowering emissions. Independent tests that the fuel economy benefit of BP Ultimate Unleaded can be up to 25km more per tank and up to 36km extra when using BP Ultimate Diesel, compared to ordinary fuels.

· Turn Off Your Air-con: The air-condi t ion ing un i t con ta ins a compressor pump driven by your

engine. When air-conditioning is used the compressor uses power from your engine, increasing the work it has to do. This requires more fuel and produces increased fuel emissions.

· Lighten Your Load: Carrying unnecessary weight in the boot cabin of the vehicle will make the engine work harder when accelerating this particularly affects stop/start driving. Simply removing this load will reduce fuel consumption and emissions.

· Avoid Stop-Start Driving: The engine has to work hard when accelerating and every time the brakes are used this energy is lost as heat. By observing and predicting road and traffic conditions ahead, the effects of stop/start driving can be reduced. Simply lifting off the accelerator earlier and gently slowing down will improve fuel economy.

· Avoid Excessive Idling Unnecessary idling: will consume fuel and produce emissions even while stationary. During idling periods of several minutes or more, where it is safe to do so, switching off your engine will stop fuel consumption and

emissions completely.· Ease Off the Accelerator:

Accelerating hard and using high engine speeds will make the engine consume more fuel. This is because, under high loads and speeds, the engine is not operating very efficiently. Accelerating more steadily to the desired speed will reduce fuel consumption and emissions. Using the engine in its most efficient range can reduce consumption and emissions:

· Avoid Short Journeys: On short journeys when an engine is cold it uses more fuel because some of the

energy in the fuel is used to heat the engine. The catalytic converter in the exhaust, which reduces harmful emissions, is also less efficient when cold. Cold start journeys, therefore, lead to high emissions and high fuel consumption for several minutes after start up. It is best to avoid such journeys as much as possible.

· Change Down a Gear: When driving in a steep hill, do not labour the engine at low engine speeds. It is better to use a lower gear and keep the engine s p e e d h i g h e r .-Automobile Association (AA)

· Check and change the oil. No single step will help an engine last more than regular oil and filter changes will. Conversely, nothing will destroy an engine faster than neglecting oil-level checks or fresh-oil changes.

·Flush the cooling system and change coolant once a year. A 50/50 mix of coolant and distilled water will keep the cooling system in good shape and prevent corrosion and deposits from building up inside the cooling system.

·Change out transmission and differential oils. While not requiring frequent service, these fluids must be changed according to service intervals. Always use transmission fluid or gear oil of the recommended type and viscosity.

· Keep it clean. While washing the outside of the vehicle is obvious, most everything the vehicle ran over can also get stuck to the underside. Hosing off winter salt and road grime is a good idea.

· Everything with moving parts needs grease to survive. This ball joint went into early retirement due to poor lubrication.

· Nothing keeps paint looking good and protected like a coat of quality wax. Apply wax at least every six months.

· Driveline components such as u-joints also require regular lubrication. The driveline may have to be removed to access the zerk grease fitting.

· Protect the interior plastic by parking the vehicle in the shade, using a window deflector screen, a n d a p p l y i n g a U V protectant to prevent the plastic and vinyl from drying out.

· Inspect, clean, and repack wheel bearings with wheel bear ing grease acco rd ing t o s e rv i ce intervals. Wheel bearings and grease are inexpensive compared to spindle and h u b r e p l a c e m e n t , o r liberated wheels rolling down the road ahead of you.

· B r a k e f l u i d i s hygroscopic. This means it is adept at attracting moisture. Moisture causes components to corrode and fail. Replace fluid and bleed system once a year. Brake fluid is cheap. Calipers, hoses, and sensors are expensive.

Tyres must always be in an overall good condition. It is not just the tread that must be in a good condition but the sidewalls as well. The correct tyre pressures are of the utmost importance to achieve optimum road holding and tyre life. Good tyre tread is important for best road gripin wet weather.

TYRE TREAD DEPTH

Wheel Alignment fixes steering problems and uneven tyre wear. You should have your wheel alignment checked every time you rotate your tyres – and, of course rotation of your tyres expands your tyre life. tyres should be rotated every

5000 to 8000 km even if there is no sign of uneven wear.

WHEEL ROTATION & ALIGNEMENT

Front discs will wear and eventually become too thin. For safety reasons, vehicle manufacturers specify a minimum thickness for brake discs and when they reach this point, the discs must be replaced. For safety brake fluid should be replaced every two years, regardless of mileage

S3 Auto Car Sales is the brainchild of Shrivar Ramayerser, who has 6 years of experience in the motor industry, having worked at many mega franchise dealers in Durban. After doing extensive research in the pre-owned market of motor vehicles, he has decided to venture on his own.

At S3 Auto, customers can be sure to find vehicles that are not more than two years old, with low mileage and balance of manufacturer's warranty. Customers can have peace of mind as all vehicles go through a thorough 101 check with AA, and no accident vehicles are sold at S3 Auto.

Shrivar would like to thank the following people for his achievement: Mr Farouk Asmal of Sucrose Nissan, who gave him the opportunity to enter the motor industry; Mr Salim Tootla, CEO of Whitehouse, for being his mentor; Mr Ahmed Desai of the Xpress Times for his assistance with advertising; and Mr Imtiaz Suleman of Stanger Car Plates for signage.

Last but not least, he would like to thank the most important people in his life his customers.

Many customers who are in the market for a vehicle do all their research online. Gone are the days of big, fancy showrooms. S3 Auto prides itself on offering quality service to customers.

S3 Auto Car Sales is located at Whitehouse Centre Car Park area (Office G4 Whitehouse Centre, Stanger). Contact: 032 552 1951.

Shrivar's 3 simple rules in life are:1. If you do not go after what you want, you'll never have

it.2. If you do not ask, the answer will always be “no”.3. If you do not step forward, you will always be in the

same place.

Say “NO” to racism(Award winning poem)

1994,The year that we achieved it all,an inspirational year, for ALL, both big

and small.Since then a lot has changed. Apartheid

fell and freedom reigned. But one destructive relic seems here to

stay,It remains like a stubborn stain on a fabric,

which won't fade away?

Racism, the hateful practice when we judge people only by the colour of their

skin, and it does not matter what lies within.

Stereotypes and bias make this a despicable act.

Some of the nasty words and acts that can't be taken back.

It affects us all.Yes, it's true. It leaves us angry, sad and helpless.

What do we do?Madiba believed that we are not born

racist. We learn racist behaviourthrough our experiences. Therefore

parents, let us be good role modelsand encourage racial tolerance and

integration.

These skills will build a better nation. Schools should be institutions

that not only teach the three R's and facts from books,

WELL DONE: Stanger Manor Primary Learner, Darshan Bramdev (Grade 7), was placed 3rd in the KwaDukuza Museum Poetry Contest held recently. The theme of the contest was No to racism. “The

contest was very informative and the poems had a very good message,” said Darshan.

but should also foster harmony and understanding between all race groups.

Religious leaders to preach about guarding against discrimination,

for it can have the desired effect of the elimination, of the evil racism.

Politicians to canvas for support against this dreaded disease,

rather than to manipulate their situations to rule with ease.

With racism there is a lot of work to do,But I am sure one day we will make it

through.Let us forget "I am lndian", "You are

African"Or "I am Coloured", "You are White"Let us sink “I" and "Mine" in a common

South African Nationality. We are all offsprings of Tata Madiba's

democracy.WE ARE ALL ONELet us say no to racism with one voice."No Racism No!""Nee Racism Nee!""Nahi Racism Nahi!""Phansi Racism Phansi!"Nkosi sikelele i Afrika

DR DAUDIE

Dr Daudie can you briefly discuss to us how your magic ring works?

First and foremost, the magic ring was discovered in Egypt around 400 - 800BC by the Pharaoh. When you put the ring on the finger, it produces a fluid which circulates in the blood stream, it recharges the whole system with its powers and diseases are destroyed. Not only

that but also it will affect your stay and change your lifestyle. It gives you success in love,

boost business, make you attractive i.e. Attractive to the opposite sex for love and

protect you in your journey.Furthermore, it will prevent you from being fooled by people and you will be capable of

performing miracles. More still, it will protect you from evil powers & witchcraft i.e. Nothing can destroy your life any how and it can make lover faith i.e. Make him/ her love you alone.

Gambling, like lotto, casino and machine play, 100% is guaranteed when the magic ring is used

properly.Last but not the least, it will give you promotion in any field you want and it can be used to win

court cases that is if you have a case to answer. That also apply's to student in an examination,

there will be no difficult questions.Briefly that's how a magic ring works. Contact:

RICH INDIAN WOMEN TESTIFIES HER SECRET OF SUCCESS!!!!!I am Pillay Salma 38 years old living in Tongaat. It is true that my

success is not a gift but a decision I made it. It took me a while to trust anybody since I was destroyed by the previous doctors, sangoma’s and

herbalists that used in the past. They disappointed me until today I cannot get hold of them as their phones are not answered. I called a business friend of mine for help and she shared a secret of success

which was Mama Hanna changed her life and became rich though the short boys that put 500 000 in her account and every month she pay 100

000 to Mama Hanna. It was a dream until she showed me her bank statement. I also got the same short boys and my life changed I and my family we are financially happy. Thanks to MAMA HANNA. Disappointed

SAVED MY MARRIAGE : After trying several healers with no success I

tried Psychic Sarah as my last hope. I got her information on radio, newspapers about her powerful healing prayers and powers. I called her and booked an appointment with her but before I could tell her anything she checked in her holy pot of water. She showed me a photo of my husband kissing a woman I was so shocked she told me my husband is abusive of which its very true. Psychic Sarah cleansed and made a powerful prayer for. It arranged my life in within 2 days. My husband came back home and he confessed his sorry and he said he will never leave my side again we are now happily married.

She can also help with luck family conflicts and finance problem. I thank Psychic Sarah for saving my marriage. She is the most reliable healer
