  • 5. Place the SIM card into the SIM tray and gently push the SIM card until it is fully seated in the tray. Note: While the SIM card is being pushed in, the PCB will lift up slightly from bottom. Ensure that the SIM card is installed exactly as depicted in this picture. Use the notched corner for placement reference.

    6. Reconnect the battery by plugging the battery connector to the PCB connector (Figure 1). Place the

battery back in the housing the same way it was removed. Please make sure the battery is not touching the capacitor (Figure 2).

  • 6. Device Mounting Options

XT-4700 series of device comes with three mounting options: screws, double sided tape and magnet. The mounting kit which comes with device includes screws and double sided tape only. The magnet is optional.

Standard Mounting Kit Example Magnet Mount Example

    7. SMS Communication

    1. Ensure your SIM card is activated with SMS enabled and you have SIM phone number available. If you have

CDMA device ensure data plan includes SMS and you have mobile # available. 2. Place the SIM card into the device. Skip this step if you have CDMA device. 3. Power up the device by connecting device to 12v DC. 4. Ensure device GSM/CDMA LED is blinking based on LED definition. 5. Using your mobile phone or SMS gateway send +XT:1008 command. Example +XT:1008,5555555555 (phone#

or SMS gateway is the # where you want device to reply back too). 6. Successful reply will be $$359134032774006,1008,5555555555## 7. Once you have set SMS to reply to your mobile or gateway, you can now send other commands to device

via SMS per device protocol documentation.

  • 8. Firmware Update OTA 1. Prior to doing a firmware update on any Xirgo product you will need a FTP server where you can host firmware files. 2. You will need the following credentials once you setup you FTP server in order to compile a +XT:1004 command:

    a. DIR is the subdirectory under which the Firmware files will be stored b. FUSN is the username used for login into the FTP c. FPWD is the password used for login into the FTP d. FIP is an FTP server IP address in the form YYY.YYY.YYY.YYY or a DNS name

    3. Once you have the FTP credentials, compile a 1004 command, Example +XT:1004,/,xirgo3,xirgo1,68.237.174.21 4. Per example below send a SMS to device phone# with +XT:1004 command as show in step #3

1004 command sent to device phone#

    Successful response back

    5. Now the device is ready for Firmware update. The XT-4700 series of device has one main firmware file. 6. Construct +XT:1006,, command to update MAIN FW. Example +XT:1006,1,X001-1111F2

signifies which firmware to update main firmware 1 for Main FW,

field is firmware file name without extension

    7. Send constructed command via SMS, example #1. Once the SMS is sent #2 is first reply back from device with indication that device has begun DOTA process. The final response #3 indicates successfully firmware update. This completed process of updating Main firmware on device.

    1006 command sent

st update MAIN 1 Firmware on device 1 SMS response indicates

    2 that command was

    accepted and device will

    begin DOTA

    nd SMS response indicates

    3 2

    device MAIN Firmware

    was successfully update.

  • Shipping Mode Devices are shipped from the Xirgo manufacturing facility in Ship mode. Federal regulations require that these device be shipped in an off state since the contain lithium ion batteries. The remove device from Ship mode you must attach +12VDC to input 1 (IN1, white) for five seconds. The device will be unresponsive until this occurs.
