Introduction
IEEEXtreme is a global challenge in which teams of IEEE Student members,
supported by an IEEE Student Branch, advised and proctored by an IEEE
member, compete in a 24-hour time span against each other to solve a set of
programming problems.
IEEEXtreme 8.0 will be held 18 October 2014 00:00:00 UTC and
team registration opens on 8 September 2014.
Included in this press kit is a promotional flyer that can be printed and
displayed at local colleges and universities, a list of useful media and web
assets, sample language for local advertising, and IEEEXtreme facts and
figures.

College Students to Compete in IEEEXtreme Worldwide Programming Competition
Prize-Winning Team to Attend one of IEEE's Global Conferences
Undergraduate and graduate computer programming students are gearing up to compete for the rights to call
themselves the "world's best programmers" - and a free trip to one of hundreds of IEEE technical worldwide
conferences -- during the upcoming programming competition, IEEEXtreme 8.0. The eighth annual worldwide
college programming competition involves teams of IEEE student members working collaboratively to solve a
series of challenging programming problems.
IEEE, the world's leading technical professional association for the advancement of technology, conducts the
computer programming competition. IEEE student branches will host the competition on their local campuses.
The 24-hour competition will begin simultaneously at college campuses around the world at 00:00:00 UTC
18 October, 2014. The registration deadline is 3 October, 2014. More information about the IEEEXtreme 8.0,

IEEEXtreme is made up of IEEE student members; there are more than 120,000+
worldwide student members from various technical fields; top membership countries
are India, USA, China, Canada, UK, and Germany.
IEEEXtreme has grown tremendously in the past few years, with a 28% Year-to-Year
growth between IEEEXtreme 6.0 and 7.0.
Last year, IEEEXtreme 7.0 saw over 7,200 active participants in the global coding
challenge; India, USA, Sri Lanka, Canada, Tunisia, and Greece were most active.
