Xu Li (Double Bass)

Born in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, Xu, Li attended the Music High School affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music studying with Professor Cao Jian. In 1995 while still in the High School, Xu Li successfully held his debut recital in Shanghai with a full concert program of high technique. The video recording of this performance attracted attention of Stuart Sankey, the legendary double bass pedagogy. After graduation from the Music High School and under the encouragement of Professor Sankey, Xu Li pursued further study in North America, where his teachers were Joel Quarrington, Stuart Sankey, and James Van Demark. Xu Li received a Bachelor degree from Eastman School of Music and Artist Diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Toronto. As a soloist, Xu Li has performed recitals and concerti in Shanghai, Beijing, Ann Arbor, Rochester, Toronto, Singapore, Bangkok, Zhengzhou, and Chengdu. As an orchestral player, Xu Li has performed with Rochester Philharmonic, Singapore Symphony, Macau Orchestra, Lausanne Chamber Orchestra and some festival orchestras, including Worldwide Chinese Musicians Orchestra. Xu Li now is a musician of Macau Orchestra and Honored Visiting Professor of The China Conservatory of Music, Beijing. Before moved to Macau, Xu Li worked for 5 years in Singapore where he played with Singapore Symphony, taught at Nan Yang Academy of Fine Arts, and collaborated closely with the Polish pianist, Arkadiusz Bialak. In 2006, Xu Li was invited for the second Beijing Double Bass Festival as a featured soloist. His performance and interview were broadcasted nationwide on CCTV and Beijing Satellite TV.

Joyce Wu (Piano)

Joyce Wu holds her Master degree of Music in Piano Performance from Indiana University (Bloomington, U.S.A.), where she studied piano with Jean Louis Haguenauer, Ann Schein, Karen Shaw, and harpsichord with Elizabeth Wright and Yonit Kososvke. She got her Bachelor Degree of Arts (Music) (Hons.) from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her teachers include David Gwilt and Amelia Chan. Wu won a scholarship from the Chinese University of Hong Kong to pursue her graduate study. She is the scholarship recipient of C.F. Hu Memorial Scholarship, Jackie Chan Scholarship, and Kwong Ming Sou Memorial Scholarship. In addition, Wu was awarded Licentiate in Piano Performance (Distinction) of the Associate Board of Royal School of Music, and AMusTCL of the Trinity College of London. Wu has often appeared as a soloist, accompanist and chamber musician. She frequently performed as a piano accompanist and coach of the String Academy of Indiana University. In addition, she actively performs in music festivals and masterclasses of Vladimir Feltsman, Susan Starr, and Mack McCray, in Hong Kong and the United States. She was also a guest performer in the ABRSM Hong Kong Diploma Award Ceremony in 2007, and St. Mary’s Canossian College 105th Anniversary Concert.
