Dear Golf Friends - Welcome to Båstad – a town beloved by the Swedish Royalty and the Nobel family

It is an honour for the Swedish Senior Golf Association to organize the 20th ESGA Masters Team

Championship & Cup 70+, and the Super Masters Team Trophy 75+, 2019.

Sweden has made a name for itself as a golfing nation. Golf in Sweden, which has more than 480

courses with almost half a million members, is booming. Given Sweden’s geography and topography,

it is blessed with golfing landscapes; seaside links hewn from rugged coastline and others that carve

through giant forests, as well as parkland courses.

This year the event is held at a golf club in the Southern part of Sweden, Båstad Golf Club with two

courses – 36 holes. The Old course opened as the second 18 holes course in Sweden in 1930. The New

Course opened in 1990. The club has 1650 senior members and around 400 junior players. Many of

them you will meet as volunteers on the golf course during the competition.

The city of Båstad is a small town. It booms during summer months when a lot of visitors come for its

beaches and tennis. The Swedish Open in Tennis has been played here for 70 years.

Everybody involved in the organization of the event hope you will have a nice stay and we will do our

best to retain this event in your memory.

Each team will designate pairs, that will stay the same for the first two days.

The format will be: 1st and 2nd day 4 Ball Better Ball (4BBB), 3rd day Single.

The two best scores of the first two days and the four best scores from the third day singles

will count.

The Championship 70+ shall be played over 54 holes Strokeplay on three consecutive days,

18 holes per day, gross without handicap allowance.

The Cup 70+ will be played over 54 holes Stableford on three consecutive days, 18 holes per

day, net with handicap allowance. Handicaps will be adjusted according to EGA standards

for 4BBB, i.e. 90% of playing handicap.

The Super Masters 75+ will be played over 54 holes Stableford on three consecutive days, 18

holes per day. It will be played both gross (without handicap) and net (with handicap

allowance). Handicaps will be adjusted according to EGA standards for 4BBB, i.e. 90% of

playing handicap. The gross scores will be written, hole by hole, on the scorecards. The

Tournament Committee will at the end of every day of the tournament calculate the

Stableford points, net and gross, obtained and generate both a gross and a net ranking.

Both scores of the first two days and the three best scores from the third day singles will

count.

11.00 – 20.00 Arrival of participants and checking in at the Hotels. Checking in for the rooms is

possible from 3 PM.

Registration for the Tournament is done by the captain of each team at the

Tournament Desk of each hotel.

The Captains are requested to:

* Hand over an updated Registration Form of team members, if late changes in the

teams have been made.

* Hand over an updated Handicap certificate of the players.

* Obtain an information document regarding eventual open payments of team

members. All open payments are done at the Main Tournament Desk at Riviera

Hotel at the latest on Opening Ceremony Monday June 24.

* A folder for each team member with all necessary information will be handed over

to the team captain.

Transport to the golf club

A shuttle service with minibuses taking 8 persons is provided from every hotel to the golf club. Since

the capacity is limited we kindly ask players with private cars to use them instead of the shuttle bus

service. The buses run with an interval of 20 minutes and the first bus leaves 6.30.

Every player who wants to use the shuttle service to the golf course, must book a seat in advance by

signing up on the transportation form on the Official notice board at the hotel. Due to limited

capacity it is not possible to book your transportation more than one hour ahead of your tee time.

Only if there are free seats, it is possible to go earlier than planned.

Transport from the golf club

Transport back to the hotels will run on an intermittent basis as soon as the minibus has 8 passengers.

First come is first served. No booking in advance.

Parking

Free parking in reserved area at the golf club.

Locker rooms

Locker rooms with showers and sauna are available at the Golf Club. Both men and woman area can

be used. There are 140 lockers available.

Driving Range

Practice balls are available at the driving range, free of charge. Since the driving range is relatively

short with a private house behind the range, the balls are manufactured for a limited flight. Driving

range is open around the clock but free range balls are distributed only certain times – see page 12.

Local rules displayed on the bulletin board and also handed out before Practice Round.

Putting green

You find the putting green outside the golf shop, not far from the driving range.

Putting competition

A putting competition on the green at the restaurant is arranged every day by the juniors of the club.

Test your skill. Prizes are awarded at the Opening and the Closing Ceremony. Starting fee – 1 Euro or

10 SEK per round. Try as many rounds as you want.

Pull trolleys

Pull trolleys available free of charge.

Electric Trolleys

No electric trolleys are supplied by the organization.

Private electric trolleys and charging of batteries is the responsibility of the player himself.

The club has managed to find some club members who will lend their electric trolleys to some of the

competitors. These are all pre-booked and no more are to be found.

Pre-booked electric trolleys will be collected and paid for on the first day in the golf club reception.

Prize 250 SEK (25 Euro)/day paid in SEK or by credit card.

After competition day 1 and 2 you leave the trolley at the golf bag storage where it will be taken care

of and the battery charged. After the last day you must return it to golf club reception.

Buggies

Buggies are allowed for the Super Masters Team 75+. You get them in the morning at the golf shop

and leave them after the round in the same place. See next page for opening hours. The price of

each buggy is SEK 400 (39 Euro)/day to be paid on the 1st day at the golf shop for all four days.

No official caddies available, but if you need a caddie, please contact the golf club reception,

Old Course – start from tee 1 all days. Cup 70+ play blue tee, 5531 meters.

New Course – Start from tee 1 and tee 10 on Practice day and Final Day. Start from tee 1 on First and

Second day of competition.

Course length may vary some due to setting up the day of play.

Golf Bag storage

Golf bag storage is organized by the golf club. Every golf bag must be marked with tags with player’s

id number and country. The tags are handed out when the team checks in at the tournament desk

during the Practice Day. Every country has its own designated area in the gallery by the side of the

practice green or the restaurant area, where you must leave your bag. The bags will be transported

to a guarded area for the night and returned to the same place next morning. See next page for

opening times of bag storage area.

Displayed on TV-screens in the club house, in the hotels and on the website

Medical service

In case of urgent medical service on the golf course call the club reception +46 431 78371. This

number is only to be used in case of urgent medical need. Defibrillators available at the clubhouse

entrance, the restaurant and Golf reception.

possible with credit card or cash in SEK – it is not possible to pay with Euro coins or bills.

There is a tournament desk in each hotel located next to the hotel reception.

The Main Tournament desk is situated at Hotel Riviera Strand. Captains shall register their teams upon

arrival to the hotel – see page 7 for more information.

The Main tournament desk in Riviera Hotel is open every day 06.30 – 20.00, Monday – Thursday.

Notice boards are located next to the Tournament desk in each hotel and at the golf course

Transport to the golf club

Parking

Parking at the Golf Course and at Hotel Riviera Strand, Hjorten and Torekov is available for

participants free of charge. For parking at Hotel Skansen, please ask for information at the hotel

reception.

Restaurants

Restaurants will be in operation at the Golf Course and at the hotels. See next page for opening hours

of restaurants in the hotels. There are also many restaurants in the area of Båstad and Torekov.

Shops and pharmacy

All you need concerning groceries you will find in ICA Supermarket, Köpmansgatan 76 B, Båstad on

the main street through Båstad. Liquor, wine and stronger beer you can only by in special stores

called “Systembolaget” and you will find the only one in the area adjacent to ICA Supermarket,

Köpmansgatan 72D, Båstad. Next to Systembolaget you will also find a pharmacy.

In Torekov centre the grocery store is at Litorinavägen 12.

Opening Ceremony, Team Photos, light buffet dinner

Monday June 24 at 19:15 at Hotel Riviera Strand.

The ceremony starts with a Flag ceremony and opening speech. Team Photos will be taken after the

Flag Ceremony. The teams will enter the hotel and on the way pass the photo session in the order

they are in the flag parade. It is important that the teams stay together when they enter the hotel not

to delay the photo session.

The light buffet dinner is in the restaurant of Hotell Riviera Strand.

Closing Dinner & Prize Giving Ceremony

Thursday June 27 at 19.30. Three course dinner at Hotel Riviera Strand.

Seating for the teams are shown by flags and signs on the tables.

Transport to Opening ceremony and Prize giving ceremony

a. From Hotel Torekov: A normal size bus is provided to the ceremonies and back. Pre-booking not

necessary.

Departure time: See noticeboard at the hotel.

Return time: 15 minutes after closure of the ceremony.

b. From Hotel Skansen and Hotel Hjorten: A shuttle service with minibuses taking 8 persons is provided

to the ceremonies and back. Pre-booking required. Persons who want to use the shuttle service to the

ceremonies must book a seat in advance by signing up on the transportation form on the Official

notice board at the latest the day before the ceremony.

Departure time: See noticeboard at the hotel.

10 | FREE TIME ACTIVITIES

The Putting Tour and the Golf Club Museum

Take the opportunity and show that your putting ability is superb. Everybody, players or non-players,

can join this ongoing friendly competition run by the junior players at Båstad Golf Club. Many different

classes – men woman, pairs etc. Putters can be borrowed. During the week winners will be

announced and awarded medals.

Starting Fee/round: 10 SEK (1€) to support the young golfers. Try out as many times you want.

When and where: Open every day at the putting green outside the restaurant.

Golf Club Museum: At the golf club there is also a small museum showing the history of the club since

1930. You will learn about golf among royalties and famous golfers and the story behind Henrik

Stenson´s Challenge Tour Event – The Princess - is told.

Tour 1| The Norrviken Gardens – 1,5 hour guided tour

This tour will take you Norrviken gardens with its living garden museum. It is the most beautiful place

you can imagine where the ocean meets land on infinite horizon. This is where Rudolf Abelin created

his seven period gardens. Among others you will see Victoria house and its glass pavilions which

accommodate exciting exhibitors whose sculptures you find inside and outside.

Tour 2| The Nobel family and Royalty – 1 h 45 min tour of city centre

Every year the Nobel prizes are awarded in

Stockholm, but not everyone knows of Båstad´s

Nobel history.

Alfred Nobel´s nephew Ludvig made Båstad a

centre of golf, tennis and elegant hotels where

royalty came to visit.

The town was early made a tourist attraction.

Enjoy this guided tour in the city centre to meet

this part of Båstad´s royal history.

The tour starts: at the Tourist Info Centre in Båstad.

Tour 4 | The Birgit Nilsson Museum – something extra for music lovers – don´t miss it

Welcome to the farm where Birgit Nilsson played as a child, and

dreamed of a life in the world of music and opera!

Birgit Nilsson (1918-2005) was one of the greatest opera singers of

the 20th century. Her superb voice and musicality were praised by

critics and audiences alike.

For several decades, Birgit Nilsson was the leading dramatic soprano

of the world and a legendary interpreter of Wagner. The story begins

in her parental home, with private memorabilia, recording and pictures. The exhibition at site shows glimpses

from Birgit´s life. Some shared by Birgit herself, but also told by others through the years.

The exhibition Birgit Nilsson - moments and tones immerses in the extraordinary life and opera career of Birgit

Nilsson. The exhibit includes an audio guide, available in English, Swedish, or German. In the cinema, you can

enjoy the magnificent voice and artistry of La Nilsson.

11 | COMPETITION RULES

The competition rules for ESGA Masters Team Championship & Cup 70+ and ESGA Super

Masters Team Trophy 75+ can be obtained in writing at the tournament desk in the hotels or

be found at the website of ESGA https://www.esgagolf.com/statutes-esga-tournaments.

12 | TRANSPORT INFORMATION – a summary

A. Transport to and from Opening ceremony and Prize giving ceremony

From Hotel Torekov: A normal size bus is provided to the ceremonies and back. Pre-booking not

necessary.

Departure time: See noticeboard at the hotel. Return time: 15 minutes after closure of the ceremony.

From Hotel Skansen and Hotel Hjorten: A shuttle service with minibuses taking 8 persons is provided to

the ceremonies and back. Pre-booking required.

Departure time: See noticeboard at the hotel. Persons who want to use the shuttle service to the

ceremonies must book a seat in advance by signing up on the transportation form on the Official

notice board at the latest the day before the ceremony.

Return time: A shuttle service will run on an intermittent basis after closure of the ceremony. The

minibus leaves as soon as it is full. First come is first served. No booking in advance is needed.

B. Transport to the golf club from hotels

A shuttle service with minibuses taking 8 persons is provided from every hotel to the golf club. Since

the capacity is limited we kindly ask players with private cars to use them instead of the shuttle bus

service.

The buses run with an interval of 20 minutes and the first bus leaves 6.30.

Every player who wants to use the shuttle service to the golf course, must book a seat in advance by

signing up on the transportation form on the Official notice board at the hotel. Due to limited

capacity it is not possible to book your transportation more than one hour ahead of your tee time.

Only if there are free seats, it is possible to go earlier than planned.

C. Transport from the golf club to hotels

Transport back to the hotels will run on an intermittent basis as soon as the minibus has 8 passengers.

First come is first served. Pre-booking not necessary.

D. Transport to Captains meeting

From Hotel Torekov: Use the same bus as the players going to the Opening Ceremony. It will leave in

time. Check noticeboard.

From Hotel Skansen and Hotel Hjorten: A minibus will pick you up outside your hotel around 20 min

before the meeting starts. Check noticeboard.

D. Transportation to guided tours

Norrviken Gardens – Minibus leaves around 30 min in advance from your hotel. Check noticeboard.

The Nobel family and Royalty – The Tennis and the sea view – Minibus leaves around 30 min in

advance from hotel Torekov and 20 min in advance from Hotel Riviera and Hotel Hjorten.
