"WE ARE TEACHERS, AND THEY "

You are always welcome! Junta Directiva TEA Canarias

LISTADO GENERAL DE PONENTES

BIODATA TALK Chris Roland wrote:

Chris is an 'ideas man' at ELI language academy in Seville. He works with new and experienced teachers on Trinity certificate and diploma courses with Oxford TEFL, Barcelona, and has run methodology courses for state school teachers in Syria and Catalonia with the British Council. He is currently working with schools in Spain in association with Oxford University Press and contributes regular articles to English Teaching Professional magazine.

“”Structuring the madness” ABSTRACT OF TALK Here we'll look at shaping classroom moments, including small adjustments to refine individual conduct/collective order and support students in terms of language/task design during both traditional and more progressive 'out-there' activities - allowing us practitioners to weave some artistry into the here and now of lessons. Anecdotes, examples and photos from my own classes included.

“”Keep Going: Embrace the grind” ABSTRACT OF TALK

This is about basic nuts and bolts teaching. Whatever fuel you're about to run out of, be it energy, time, patience, explanations, activities or warnings, we'll see how far we can get you and your students on what remains by looking at new ways to get the usual business done.

Blanca Díaz wrote:

Blanca Díaz is the secretary of TESOL-SPAIN and regional coordinator for Cantabria.

She has been teaching English for over 25 years and training teachers for almost as long.

“Time for writing” ABSTRACT OF TALK How can we help and inspire students to write? This practical session will consider common problems which arise when approaching writing.

“We don’t teach English. We teach people.”

ABSTRACT OF TALK More and more, EFL teachers are expected to teach values. But how? In this presentation, I will propose some guiding principles for incorporating values education in our classes and explore ways to teach them from an early age. Teachers will discuss what values need to be taught and design activities they would like to implement in their lessons.

James Easton wrote: James Easton has a Postgraduate in TESOL with Distinction (Sheffield Hallam University), the Licentiate Diploma in TEFL (Trinity College London), CAP (Spanish Ministry of Education) and the CELTA YL Extension. He is currently engaged in providing support for teachers in liaison with Trinity College London/Excellence in Education, Spain.

“The Revised ISE Examinations: integrating language skills in a meaningful way. ”

ABSTRACT OF TALK

Real-life language skills! Trinity’s Integrated Skills in English (ISE) qualification is a contemporary multi-skills language exam designed for people who need English language skills for study. With a strong focus on real language performance and promoting the development of transferable skills for academic study and employability, ISE assesses the communicative skills needed to succeed in the 21st century. “Not just another song’” ABSTRACT OF TALK

This workshop aims to demonstrate how group dynamics in an integrated skills lesson can help our learners: work together to achieve a successful result; produce work independently; and think creatively. ‘Not just another song’ is an integrated skills activity, which involves performing tasks using language from a song that was inspired by a letter published in a newspaper. The central theme concerns giving advice.
