DAY 1: ENGLISH
This week we are going to be writing postcards. Do you know what a postcard is?
A postcard is a small card that we can send in the post without an envelope! It has a picture on the front and a message is written on the back. You can buy post cards from book stores, museum gift shops, tourist offices and newsagents. Most people send a postcard when they have visited a new place on a day trip or a holiday. Talk to a grown up about any postcards that you have sent or received, or about a place you have visited that you could have sent a postcard from.
Watch this video now with a grown up, which explains all the different parts of a postcard >
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzafbwSN1tU
Your challenge: Can we identify the features of a postcard?
1. Look at my postcard features on the next slide. Using the word bank, name the different parts correctly. You can have a grown up draw out the chart for you.
2. Show the correct layout of a postcard. Next to each feature write A, B, C, D or E to show where it goes on a postcard.
3. Explain some postcard features by writing a simple fact, e.g. The address tells the postman where to take the postcard.
You can watch Mrs Jones’ video to listen to the Book
of the week, on our Class Story on Class Dojo! You
can also see the story on You Tube by clicking here>>
