Knowledge A preliminary understanding of contours and their role in indicating 3Dform Skill Accuracy of Site Measurement, Discipline in site recording Exercises in drawing layout and model making Imaginative Interpretation Graphic representation of landscape information Production of finished drawings – plan drawing Brief The first stage involves an introduction to the topic in studio where you will familiarise yourself with all the terminology, methodology and equipment. It is essential that you attend this in order to understand the task to be undertaken on site. Stage two involves two tasks; Site Measurement of boundaries and position of key elements (trees and other salient features) and Levelling. The site is Hulme Parksee attached plan for meeting point. For this exercise the class will be divided as follows (refer to list) Two groups: Group A 9.3012.30pm Group B 12.303.30pm Each group will set out the site, utilising the ranging poles and measuring tapes Each Group will then be further divided in to two groups. Each of the smaller groups will be provided with a dumpy level, staff and measuring tapes and will share the measuring of the site and recording the levels. In stage three students will individually process the level data collected on site and produce a survey drawing of the site to an appropriate scale. This will include key measurements, location of features on the site and a grid of reduced levels. Programme Friday 21 st January. 10.00am. Room 815. Introduction to ‘landform’ Tuesday 25 th January. 9.30am – 4.30pm. Levelling exercise at Hulme Park. (Please check which group you are in. Toilets and a café are situated adjacent to the park).
