Innovative Learning Spaces

Franklin provides a variety of innovative learning spaces, which helps students to engage with their learning environment. These spaces

stimulate the learning needs of the individual student. Students can explore and connect to their learning on a variety of levels. Students

learn through explorations and are given the opportunities to connect with the environment.

Language, Learning and Literacy (L3) at Franklin

High expectations, individualised learning goals and close collaboration between staff underpins

the literacy strategy at Franklin Public School. Celebrations of learning happen each and every day

as the students engage in reading, writing, speaking and listening tasks.

The L3 (Language, Learning and Literacy) Program encourages students to become self-regulated

as they embark on daily challenges within a quality teaching and learning environment. The K-2

classes are full of explicit teaching, language opportunities, shared experiences, problem solving

and ultimately personal success.

The K-2 staff at Franklin have engaged with a community of learners within rich professional

development sessions over the course of the year. This program is supported by their Instructional

Leader who tracks and monitors individual student achievement every five weeks on the school

data wall.

Activities the students participate in can range from guided reading with their teacher, familiar

reading, writing stimulus stations, tricky word work, technology centres and STEM activities which

integrate concepts being covered in other key learning areas, just to name a few.

Franklin has hosted teachers from other Riverina schools as they view these essential literacy sessions in action. This is where the magic

is

limitless opportunities for students to develop skills.

In 5/6 Lawson, all students have the privilege of using their
