Master Thesis: Reconstruction and Development of Volga Riverfront, Multi- functional Public CentreThe project is a reconstruction of the River Port territory in Saratov that is situated on Volga, between two host cities of FIFA World Cup 2018: Volgograd and Samara. It is an opportunity for the city to develop public facilities and to become a cultural attractor for the surrounding areas. Masterplan includes tree buildings: trade and exhibition centre, River Port and concert-cinema centre. The cinema-concert centre with tree halls on 1800, 300 and 150 seats was developed in detail during one semester. The shape of the building is a series of arches that are decreasing in height and contain inside fire staircases and lifts.

FUNCTIONAL SCHEME ON EACH FLOOR

The main goal for the Media Centre is to provide a hub for startups and creative companies. In other similar renovative industrial zones rent cost is high thus mak-ing it unaffordable for young creative people. I pro-pose to create cells of different dimensions on the third floor for writers(3x2m), actors and musicians (6x6m), dancers(6x18m), 2-store rooms for production of art objects, etc. Second floor is transformable, so it can be used either in performance mode or in gallery mode. The first floor is for retail, primarily of those specific prod-ucts, needed for artists- musical instruments, shoes and cloth for dancers, stationery for painters, etc.

The proposal for the masterplan for the Central district in Sochi is made of two wide green pedestrian stripes that allow residents with children to walk safely from their house to edu-cational facilities. School building is divided into two parts- circle for small pupils and squares-classrooms for older, both have their own entrances. The con-nection is functional-dining room-big circlar space. All activities, connected with noise such as sport, dancing, singing, lessons and other studios are situated in one rectangle volume. The high-rise house has terraces and vertical wood structures on facades aim to protect flats from overheating in summer. The northwest facade of the house is morphing, which allows to have different kinds of flats from 30 m2 on the first floor to 145m2 on the last floor with increasing area of terraces to the top.

Load-bearing structure is load-bearing reinforced con-crete cross-sectional walls with a core formed by el-evator and staircase and longitudinal diaphragm. Foun-dation is monolithic reinforced concrete slab on elastic basis. Load-bearing interior walls are 300 mm thick-ness, material- monolithic reinforced concrete. Exte-rior walls are 400 mm thickness, material- monolithic reinforced concrete with heat insulation material - mineral wool board. Partition are 100 mm thickness, material- drywall. Floors are monolithic reinforced concrete slabs. Flat roof is inaccessible with internal drain. Technical floor is located in the basement storey. Facade materials - plaster and wood boards.

“Markaz Tower” in Kuwait This residential project locates in Kuwait in the conditions of hot climate. I was working on de-sign of the facade, interior of lobby and rooftops and open parking of the building. The facade’s goal is to create the appearance of the tree, that gradually morphs to the sun. Six types of pan-els, 1m x 3m size, were designed with pattern, which remind us of traditional ones. Different options for colours of these panels were done. On the ground level, special attention is aimed for the landscape project with 4 transparent glass pavilions, covered with green roofs, each with different program- lobby, reception, retail, cafe. The rooftop consists of two parts- bar-becue and gym with terrace for sunbathing. To create a shadow above the swimming pool, pergola from ETFE panels were designed.

Block in 22@ district

Research project investigates multiscalar strategies for the reconstruction of our inhabiting environments (home, city, planet). Analysing one block in 22@ district in Barcelona, three parameters were generated: latitude and longitude, environmental data (temperature, CO2 emissions, noise, light) and urban context (density, flow of people). Massive volume of old industrial building was divided into boxes with different functional use and they were transferred to other buildings, where there is a need of them. Although parts of the building can spread around city, like different moving studious, glass facade remains stable and can be used for attraction and on-line mapping of current events.

This design proposal was developed during the “Projective Cities” program and is an essential part of the final Designed-and-written Dissertation.

At different moments in history, domesticity and housing were understood by the State as a means to shape different modes of productivity. All of these moments coincided with social and political reforms that effected the design and provision of housing. Domesticity became an important instrument to construct productive subjects, with productivity seen in turn in economical, social and moral terms. Thus, studies of critical housing projects convey changes in productivity, as well as political and social reforms. However, today a focus on interaction and collaboration in the context of knowledge economies has lost spatial and social ambitions. Productivity has become reduced to an idea of collaboration and its promise of increased knowledge production. And instead of housing, ideas of livability and lifestyle are advocated. This thesis aims to reconnect ideas of domesticity, production, and productivity and propose housing in the context of the new science city.

Research question: What are the spatial instruments of domesticity that allow a reconsideration of social productivity?Urban question: How can social productivity be thought in contemporary terms to establish an alternative organisation of the housing block?Typological question: Can social productivity be conceived without the notion of collective space in the design of housing?

Design site is located in Copenhagen between City Campus and Science City. The idea is to create an urban form, where different constituencies are mixed to create a possibility for constructing new social relationships that otherwise would not be possible.
