Experience of IT Standards Development in Myanmar


Law on Standardization is under review process of parliament and public commentsConcurrent with the submission of Draft Law to parliament, MSTRD has established 19-TCs depend on national socio-economic needs, (among them, 1-TC for IT include)

Function Starting from June 2013 (50) TC meetings up to nowproposed to draft (30) National Standards include (1) IT draft standards

Endorsed the certificate of importing country by Post and Telecommunica-tion Department on checking the specification of some products


Future Plan for IT Conformity Assessment in Myanmar

To Encourage to establish IT Testing Labs To establish immediately Testing labs by developing countries is difficultNAFP/NAB recognize test certificates of labs through Asia-Pacific regional MRAEndorse by regulators if the certificates has issued from recognized labs by NAB


Conclusions and Recommendations

Developing IT National Standards is rely on Testing FacilitiesEstablishment of Testing Labs in IT technology, if possibleUsing the Asia-Pacific Regional MRA mechanism for accreditation of testing labs will be cost effective and ensure the quality assurance
