There will be special ritual Masses you are expected to attend with your family on: Sundays, September 29 th , 2019 & April 26 th , 2020 @ 5pm. CONFIRMATION MEETINGS: Confirmation meets on select Wednesday nights from 7-9pm in the Hall. Teens are expected to arrive early to check-in and to bring their Bibles (which they will receive at one of their first sessions). There are 12 meetings, and ANY MISSED MEETINGS MUST BE MADE-UP. Makeup requirements are sent out via e-mail the day after the missed meeting. Students who miss more than 4 total meetings, or 3 consecutive meetings will be considered “dropped-out” from the program. The meetings this year are: 9/18 (with parent), 10/2, 10/23, 11/6, 11/20*, 12/11, 1/22, 2/5**, 2/19, 3/11***, 3/25 & 4/15****. *RETREAT: Each teen needs to participate in a weekend Confirmation retreat each year. Teens are strongly encouraged to make this weekend a priority, otherwise they will need to find an alternate Year 1 Confirmation retreat with another church in the Diocese of Orange. This year’s Confirmation 1 retreat is $225, and is the weekend of: Friday, January 10 th – Sunday, January 12 th , 2020. Note: Catholic school retreats cannot replace your Confirmation retreat. Form & payment are due by Wednesday, November 20 th , 2019. **SAINT REPORT: Students will choose a patron saint, reflecting their research on the saint. They will write a one-page reflection on the saint, which must be completed by: Wednesday, February 5 th , 2020. ***SPONSOR DECLARATION: Students will need to declare their confirmation sponsor by Wednesday, March 11 th , 2020. A sponsor is an active and Confirmed Catholic in good standing, who is able to commit to an active role in the spiritual formation of their candidate. Unfortunately, parents are not eligible to be sponsors for the candidate. Sponsors will need to attend a Sponsor day retreat during the second year of the program, as well as the Confirmation rehearsal & Mass at the end of the program. ****SERVICE: Each year, students will need to participate in two service opportunities. One of which must be at Saint Timothy’s, the other can be completed outside the parish. Service opportunities are generally two hours or more, and one of them can be satisfied through helping in a liturgical ministry, or volunteering regularly with faith formation (Tiny Tim’s, Elementary School or CLUB 7-8). Must be completed within the Confirmation year with verification & submitted by: Wednesday, April 15 th , 2020. ****XLT (EXALT): Teens will need to attend 1 XLT each year. These are powerful nights of praise & worship, and inspirational message and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Dinner is included and they are free! We will have a few throughout the year at Saint Timothy’s (Tentative dates: 9/20, 12/6 , 2/7 & 5/15). Off-site XLT’s (at other parishes & Catholic schools) also satisfy this requirement. Must be completed within the Confirmation year with verification & submitted by: Wednesday, April 15 th , 2020. ****LIFE NIGHTS: Teens will need to attend 1 Life Night each year, which take place each Sunday night from 6-8pm. It’s a great way for teens to get a bigger picture of what youth ministry is, instead of just attending Confirmation sessions. Must be completed within the Confirmation year by: Wednesday, April 15 th , 2020. PARENT DAY: This afternoon workshop will occur on Saturday, February 1 st , 2020 from 2-6pm. Students must attend with one or both of their parents. INTERVIEWS: Students may be asked to schedule interviews with the Pastor and/or Confirmation coordinator each year. These interviews must be attended by the student with a parent and/or their sponsor.

We understand you have very busy schedules as parents, and are rarely thanked for the many things

you do for your family. So, first of all, THANK YOU. Your teen is in Confirmation because of the seed of faith

you planted in their hearts.

We do not want to place a strain or any additional burden on top of the many hats you already juggle,

we simply want this Confirmation process to be something you as a family can prayerfully and intentionally

enter into together. We hope that you are as interested as we are in making our Youth Ministry and

Confirmation Programs as good as they can be for our teens. Our program depends on the time & talents of

many volunteers. Please consider how you can use your gifts to build up the Kingdom of God. We ask that

each parent/family commit to doing one of the following this year (please select at least one):

YEAR 1 CONFIRMATION LEADER. Meetings are on select Wednesday nights (Sept-Apr) from 7-9pm. Session

materials and training will be provided. Responsibilities are small group facilitation, and journeying with a

small group of teens for a year through prayer, mentoring and relational ministry. This requires fingerprinting

and an online training. (If you have a son/daughter in the program, you will be assigned to a different group)

nights. Setup is at 4pm, Mass at 5pm, Life Night from 6-8pm, followed by cleanup until 8:15pm. Planning
