Where do you start?

• At the end!• Make a list of key dates• Make a list of all your exams that you will sit• Work backwards from this to…• Create a weekly or monthly calendar of

revision• Keep it realistic

OCTOBER KEY DATES:

• 17 – 26 Half term• 20 – 24 visit Bangkok with family• 22nd – my birthday

• Over the half term, you only really have the 18th and 19th and 25th to revise

November

• 7th – 9th Phuket football• 14th – 18th FOBISIA• 29th James and Bill’s birthday party

December/January

• 19th - Last day of term• 20th - Fly to France• 25th - Christmas• 1st - New Years Day• 8th - Fly home• 13th - EXAMS START

Put your key dates on a new calendar

Revision planning

• Work out how many days/evenings you have and split them into ‘sessions’ of about 1hr 30

• Prioritize your needs... which subject(s) needs more than the rest?

• Allocate each subject a number of ‘sessions’ according to your needs

• Try and slot them onto your calendar….

Mr Driscoll’s revision needs

• PE – 50%• Maths – 5%• English – 5%• Science – 10%• IT – 20%• Geography – 5%• Economics – 5%

My available revision sessions

• I can revise for 1 hour each night after homework. There are 44 week days from now until end of term, so that is 44 revision sessions.– Out of these 44, I will be too tried to study for 14 of

these so can not count them.• There are 14 weekend days between now and

the end of term. I know I will be busy for at least 6 of these, the others I will split into 5 sessions (a total of 40 revision sessions)

• I have 3 FULL days in half term which I can split into 4 sessions. (a total of 12)

• Over the Christmas holiday, I will study for 4 days, so that is 16 sessions.

• TOTAL NUMBER OF SESSIONS: 98.

• You will lose a few sessions due to other commitments not yet known, so round down…. My new total is 90.

Allocate your sessions

• PE – 50% of time = 45 sessions• Maths – 5% = 5 sessions• English – 5% = 5 sessions• Science – 10% = 9 sessions• IT – 20% = 18 sessions• Geography – 5% = 5 sessions• Economics – 5% = 5 sessions

Add the revision sessions to your calendar

Where, what and when should you revise and how long for?

• Everyone is different!• Chose a time that suits you• Speak to your teachers and ask their opinions

on what you need help on.• Try to keep each ‘session’ to about an hour

but no more than 1hr 30.• Go somewhere quiet… nothing worse than

being disturbed
