RAF, the day may be boring and there is no guarantee that the open day will have any mention of ICT

day out which is heavily related to ICT. If possible they could cover aspects of an ICT which you wouldn't in a usual lesson

gadgets and may not understand the complex use of ICT because they haven't covered this in a lesson before. Limited time period to visit

Alton towersAdvantagesit is highly related to ICT and will show an extensive range of different ICT skills.Disadvantages it will cost a lot of money for transport costs, and the time taken to travel will also be long which will bore students

Chosen idea ICT in the World of Sport(olympic Park)

Why: Gives the students the chance to view the Olympic Park and to see the opportunities and the impacts that the Olympics is creating for the area of East London.An interactive workshop will be available to the students. The areas of study include the role of ICT in promoting the Olympics (media), the delivery of major sporting events, social networking, the impacts of the increased use of technology, how ICT can be used to solve problems and how ICT is used in the construction of Olympic facilities and how this is monitored.

Relevance: The fact that the Olympics is happening in less than 100 days makes this subject a modern topic. The currentness of the Olympics will attract interest in the students and the create a sense of patriotism. The students will feel like they should be involved in the Olympics as it's part of their national pride. Learning about the ways in which ICT is used to promote and manage the Olympics combines perfectly and is educational as it acts as a realistic topic and the successfulness of the Olympics can be judged after its occurrence. ICT comes in many forms such as the golden triangle which interlinks the media, sport and sponsorship. The Olympics will run on ICT such as TV rights and specialist technology. For example hawk eye is used during the tennis to deter if the ball is in or out. Replays are also used during athletics such as in sprinting events to slow the footage down to see who crosses the line first. The trip to London will educate the students and therefore make them realise how important ICT is in sport.

Olympic Park (afternoon Walk)What happens: The tour starts at Bromley by Bow underground station at 2:00pm

and finishes overlooking the Olympic Park near Stratford station at 4:00pm. The route taken is mainly off the road, much of it along a tow path in the former industrial Lower Lea valley. There are excellent views of the Olympic stadium and other 2012 constructions, such as the Aquatics Centre and The Orbit. Hopefully they may cover some of the design aspects of the stadium in relation to ICT

• Duration: 2 hours maximum. The route is approximately one and a half to two miles long, finishing overlooking the Olympic Park. The terrain is mainly flat but can be muddy and there are ruts and bumps along the way.

• Guides: All guides are London Blue Badge Tourist guides. • Weather: The tour will run, whatever the weather. Please note: throughout the tour students will be open to asking questions at any time

Attire/equipmentStudents are advised to bring a suitable form of footwear and possibly and change of

footwear incase of bad conditions. Also coats (waterproofs) are required in order to take place in the walk. Lastly students will need to take a bag to carry potentially dirty clothes in for the return home.

Plan of actionPlease note: All students are advised to arrive at the Robert Sutton bus park before 8:15am

8:30am -Take register to see what students are here then leave Robert Sutton bus park at approximately 8:30 am Travel approximately 3 ½ hours depending on traffic to Olympic Park London (students are reminded to bring own food & drink)

12:00pm- On arrival at Olympic Park London take register and make our way into the venue and be sure to have reservation forms and tickets sorted before approaching the site.

12:30pm-1:30pm- student lunch break, during which time student have the opportunity to eat packed lunches and use toilets nearby.

2:00pm- start tour at Bromley by Bow underground station and proceed for 2 hours along the tour for two hours.

4:00pm- finish tour near Stratford station roughly at 4:00pm (depending on weather student will be required to change into clean clothes in nearby facilities)

4:30pm- take register of students before boarding the coach and begin journey back to Burton

8:00pm- arrive back at Blessed Robert Sutton..

TransportThis trip will take place over the duration of one day. The location of the attraction is in

London therefore in terms of transport we may consider using a coach because of the amount of students visiting the attraction will be high therefore for safety reason we would want to keep the students together. the coach we have chosen is for hire from Swiftsure travel the coach can hold up to 34 passengers easily enough to hold the students and is equipt with multiple additives to keep the students entertained and safe throughout the journey.

Average costs- to find the cost of hiring the coach for the day call the number at the bottom. Estimating a fee of around £10-15 per student.
