Welcome back to school! 2019 was a wonderful year of great learning and achievements for our pupils! We are especially pleased with how our pupils had risen to the occasion from their 2019 PSLE performance to being featured on CNA Insider (premiered 30 November 2019). In case you have not had the opportunity to read or view the story about three of our pupils Alina, Chaorui and Idris, you might like to do so via the CNA Insider website (simply search ‘Farrer Park Primary School’). On this note, I sincerely thank all our teachers for bringing out the best in our pupils in 2019 - standing along-side each and every one of them so that they could learn, grow and stand tall in their own achievements. There are a few changes for 2020 which I would like to highlight to all parents. There have been requests by some parents to allow morning drop-off at the car porch within the school compound. We have reviewed safety and security considerations and are pleased to inform all parents that with effect from 13 January, Monday, you may drop off your child at the car porch but only between 7am and 7.30am (before 7am, we will need to allow school buses etc. to drop off pupils first; and after 7.30am, the main gate (Gate 1) will have to be closed). Parents who wish to drop off their children at the car porch are required to drive off immedi-ately to keep the driveway safe and less congested. We note, however, that most parents may still prefer to drop off your children in the morning at Gate 4 because that is, in fact, nearer to morning assembly areas (School hall or Parade square). We would also like to inform parents that from the week of 13 January, we will be inviting parents or guardi-ans to join us for our flag raising ceremony every Friday morning at the Parade square as long as the weather permits. We would like to call it a Community Morning. We seek your understanding to note that this is a trial for a term and we will decide on the possibility of continuing with the practice after our review. As CCA days fall on Tuesdays now, our teachers who have to conduct CCAs will also dress down on Tuesdays (apart from Fridays) so that it makes the day a little easier for teachers to move around from classrooms to CCAs without too much hassle. A last point to note is that the school does not allow pupils to pack food from the school canteen to take home for lunch. We seek your understanding that in the interest of our pupils, we want to ensure food safety and adhere to NEA standards of food hygiene. 2019 was a wonderful year for the school and our pupils; and I am certain 2020 will be another wonderful year for each and every one of our pupils as long as they put in immense effective effort (not minuscule effort) to achieve their personal best! To all Farrereans – stay disciplined, enjoy learning, look after one another; and you will definitely rise to another year of great achievements for yourselves and for the school!
