As a school we have signed each pupil to a new virtual online library giving students access to more than 6,000 enhanced
digital books. Children can choose books which interest them, read them
online or offline and share them with you.
We hope you find some exciting new books – share with us what you are reading!
To access, simply email [email protected] with your child or children’s name - using the subject ‘myon’. We
will then email their login details to access the site.

This week, I’ve been enjoying books by David Wiesner. These are a couple of his wordless picture books…
Flotsam: A boy goes to the beach to collect and examine flotsam (anything floating that has been washed ashore). Bottles, lost toys, small objects of every description
are among his usual finds. But there's no way he could have prepared for one particular discovery: a barnacle-encrusted underwater camera, with its own secrets
to share . . . and to keep. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MTKWnxzqvM
June 29, 1999, which happens to be a Tuesday, is a day no one will forget, especially Holly Evans. On that day, Holly, her town, and the country learn the results of her science project, sending seedlings aloft into the ionosphere: an invasion of giant
vegetables! Broccoli falls from the sky; turnips hit the trail in the Rocky Mountains; and lima beans land in Levittown.
Before reading on, look carefully at this picture and answer the questions…
Vocabulary1. What vocabulary can you use to
describe the man’s house?2. What vocabulary can you use to
describe the man’s facial expression?
Retrieval3. What is the man eating and drinking?4. What are all the ways you can tell it’s
late at night?
Inference5. Why has the man paused? How can
you tell he has paused?
Explain6. Explain why the man looks confused.

What happened to the frogs when the sun came up?
Why clues did the police find?
What happened the next Tuesday? Did you spot the
clue?
