Design Technology Make something old – new! This week’s Design Technology challenge is to recycle at home. Using things that would usually get put in the recycling and create something out of it. This could be a robot, a jewellery box, a rocket, a musical instrument, a boat, a car or anything you like.

PE Find a teddy How high can you throw your teddy and catch it? Now stand side by side, with family members in your household, about 2 metres apart. Have a go at a rugby throw - throwing the ball sideways to each other. Have a go at walking forwards whilst throwing the ball to each other. Can you do this jogging?

Game: Teddy try You will need – one teddy, 2 pillows or cushions and a t-shirt or item of clothing for each person playing (you will need at least 2 people).

1) Tuck the T-shirt into the back of your trousers so it is hanging out. 2) Sort the players into 2 teams. 3) The aim is to score a try with the teddy by placing (not throwing) it onto a pillow before the opposition takes the t-shirt from your back. 4) If someone takes your T-shirt you have to pass the teddy or (if you are on your own team) throw the ball high into the air. Think about: How you stopped someone getting your t-shirt? How you could work as a team? The smaller the area you are playing in the harder the game is – so the more tactics you will need. Topic

The Victorian Age

Our summer topic is all about the Victorian Age. Use the website below to find out as much as

you can about Queen Victoria and her time on the throne. How would you summarise the

main events into 10 points?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zcjxhyc/resources/1

https://www.dkfindout.com/uk/history/victorian-britain/

You could present what you find through a PowerPoint, a booklet or by recording in your

homeworking book.

Science

Try this quick do now science activity as a warm up:

How many different problems/advantages could you find to this ‘What If’ warm up? What do

the other people in your house think?

Science Our new unit in science is looking at evolution and inheritance. Have a look at the video link

below to help you understand what inheritance is:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zvhhvcw/articles/zp9f4qt

Using some photographs, or some drawings of your own, can you show some of the inherited

characteristics that you share with members of your family that you are related to? Do you

share any similar traits with your siblings (brother/sister) if you have one? You could think

about characteristics such as eye colour, hair colour, dimples, ear lobe shape… Make a note in

your Home Working Books to show what you have found.

Challenge: Do you have any traits that are not inherited? For example, scars.

English Flotsam – by David Weisnam

Not all books have words. One particular book is a story written about

flotsam. You can watch it for yourself here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MTKWnxzqvM

What do you think the story is all about? What even is flotsam? See if

you can find out the answer to this question before you carry on. How do you feel about

stories that have no text?

Using the picture from the book below, write your own extract of the story that could go

alongside the YouTube slides. Remember, it is a fictional piece so you can be as creative as you

wish! I look forward to reading your story sections.
