YEAR 8 FRENCH DESTINATION VACANCES OUTLINE OF LEARNING 1ST JUNE-12TH JUNE

• Read the instructions carefully.

• Do your best. Complete all work as well as you can.

• If you are stuck, ask a friend or a family member. You could also have a look in the answer document as there are additional explanations.

• If you are really stuck email your teacher and they will do their best to get back to you.

• If you don’t understand a word, use the glossary (at the end of the textbook) or the vocabulary section (at the end of each chapter) to help. Take care with your learning. Underline titles. Add dates. Use two colours of pen. Space things out. Be proud of the learning you are doing.

• Try to learn your vocabulary regularly. Aim to do a few sessions of about 10 mins each week. The more regularly you do it, the more confident you will be.

• If you finish the learning quickly, or would like to learn more French or more about French culture, look at the extension ideas on moodle. THE EXTRA RESOURCES ARE OPTIONAL and can be done any time over the next 6 weeks!

• If you are proud of something you have done, send a picture to your teacher. They will enjoy reading it even if they can’t always reply!

HOW SHOULD I DO MY LEARNING?

Core learning:

1. Write a title in your French book : Chapter 7.3 - Mes vacances de rêve’

2. Copy out vocabulary on page 129 for ‘’Dream Holidays’. Take care with spellings and use red pen for the English. Practise the vocabulary on Quizlet (click link) for about 15 min. Try to complete the learn mode!

Extended learning:

Download the ‘additional holiday activities’ vocabulary and work out what they mean. Add 4 more you like to do. Copy/stick into your book.

SESSION 1 ALLEZ 1 CHAPTER 7.3

Core Learning:

1. Quickly log in to Quizlet and do a test on the ‘Dream Holidays’ vocab. Write your score into your book underneath today’s date.

2. Go to page 116 in the Allez 1 textbook and complete exercise 1. Write out the sentences in full and translate.

3. Complete exercise 4 on page 117 into your exercise book. Check answers using the answer document. Translate one of the texts into English in your book.

4. Using the sentence builder on Moodle to help, write out 3 sentences about your dream holidays and translate them into English.

Extended learning:

1. Complete all of the core learning

2. Copy the grid for ex 6 into your book and complete the exercise. Check your answers using the answer document.

3. Complete the extended translations on the next slide into your book. Use the sentence builder to help Check your answers and correct.

4. Write a paragraph describing your dream holidays. Use the sentence builder and ideas from the translation sentences too.

4. I’ve always wanted to visit New York. I’d like to climb the Empire State Building and I would like to go shopping. I would like to go with my friends because it would be great.

5. When I am older I would like to go on a cruise with my friends. I love doing lots of different activities and it would be cool to visit lots of different countries. It would be really fun.
