Task 2: The Work of Damien Hirst

Damien Hirst is a British contemporary artist whose work is often considered to be controversial, particularly his sculptures featuring, what were once, live animals. 1) Is Damien Hirst’s artwork controversial? What do you think?

Explain your answer below and aim to consider as many different sides of the argument as possible.

Task 3: Da Vinci & Anatomy Similar to Damien Hirst, Leonardo Da Vinci was interested in anatomy and, like Hirst, dissected bodies to find out more about how the skeleton worked etc. One of Da Vinci’s sketches is detailed drawing of a human skull.

In the space below draw the other half of Leonardo Da Vinci’s skull sketch.

Use pencil and/or pen to add mark-making techniques or tonal values to your drawing to make the skull as realistic and as three-dimensional as possible.

Banksy An anonymous England-based street artist and political activist.
