The Department of Computer Science, St. Albert’s College (Autonomous) was
established in the year 2015 with the objective of imparting quality education
in the field of Computer Science. The department offers BSc. Computer
Science, a three-year bachelor degree program in the field of computer
science. This course is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam,
Kerala, India.

DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES
INTRA DEPARTMENTAL IT QUIZ COMPETITION
The department of Computer Science organized an intra departmental IT Quiz
competition on 20 June 2019 @ 11am. The students from all the batches
participated in the event. The first runner up winners are Ms. Durga Devi and Ms.
Mary Betsy Rocha, Sem-3 students. The winners are Mr. Abdul Rameez and Mr.
Ajay Bibu, sem-3 students.
INAUGURATION OF DEPARTMENT ASSOCIATION & PLACEMENT
DIVISION 2019
The department of Computer Science inaugurated the department association and
placement division activities for the current academic year on 25th July 2019 @ 9
am in the Emmanuel hall. The program started with a prayer song sung by Ms.
Roncy K J, Ms. Josna Mary and Ms. Chandana KP, Sem 1 Students.
Ms. Sangeetha J, asst. Professor and Head of the Department welcomed the
gathering. This was followed by the Presidential Address delivered by Dr. M L
Joseph, Principal, St. Albert’s College (Autonomous). He congratulated the
Department of Computer Science and appreciated the initiative of the students of
the department. He highlighted in his address the importance of computer science
in the modern world. He also advised the students to create at least one program
per week.
The Department Association was officially inaugurated by Dr. Mini Ulanat,
Systems Manager, CUSAT by clicking a button on a laptop which in turn resulted
in a virtual inauguration. She advised the students to conduct 10-minute
‘microworkshops’ by the Department of Computer Science for the whole college
as to increase the spectrum of reach of the various topics in IT to all the students
of St. Albert’s College. She also urged the students to follow their passion.
The Yearbook of the Department of Computer Science 2018-19 was released by
Dr. M L Joseph, Principal, St. Albert’s College (autonomous).
Prizes were distributed to the winners of the Intra Departmental IT Quiz
competition by the Dr. Mini Ulanat, chief guest and Rev. Fr. John Christopher,
Vice Principal, St. Albert’s College (autonomous). The first runner up winners are
Ms. Durga Devi and Ms. Mary Betsy Rocha, Sem-3 students. The winners are Mr.
Abdul Rameez and Mr. Ajay Bibu, sem-3 students.
Winners of Intra Departmental IT Quiz competition
After the inaugural ceremony Dr. Mini Ulanat began the technical session on
latest trends in IT by asking the students gathered their opinions of the said topic.
She asked the students on the advancements in Internet technology. A video was
presented which explained the working of the Internet along with introduction of
some new Technical terms such as IP Address, Protocols etc. She also explain the
broad history on the gradual advancements of the internet generation by
generation. Further, a video was presented on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and
Machine Learning. Big Data was also introduced to the students. The session was
conducted in an interactive method which helped the students to clear their
doubts and also take part in the session as a whole. It was seen that students were
curious to know more about the latest developments in Information Technology.

HOT IN ANGULAR JS
The department association of Computer Science organised a Hands on Training
in Angular JS on 20 August 2019. The program started with a silent prayer. Mr.
Amal M R, Asst. Professor welcomed the programme. The HoT was lead by Mr.
Shalvin P D, Consultant and Developer, Integrated Technologies, Cochin. The
HoT was organised to provide a platform for the students to familiarise new
platform for web application development and to get a detailed practical
knowledge about various concepts of Angular JS.
The hands on training covered the areas like Angular JS, Visual Studio, HMC
Module Replacement, Use of NG command, Property Binding, Event Binding, 2
Way Binding and Dot Net. Ms. Santra Paul, Sem-5 student delivered the vote of
thanks. The Programme came to an end at 1.30 pm. Mr. Amal M R was the faculty
Co-Ordinator for the programme.
CERTIFICATE PROGRAMME IN IoT
The Department of Computer Science commenced the Certificate Program
entitled "CERTIFICATE PROGRAM IN INTERNET OF THINGS" on 27
August,2019. Fr. John Christopher Vadassery inaugurated the session. Nearly 30
students from various classes joined the program. The classes for the same is
scheduled to be on Tuesday and Wednesday 2-3pm. Ms. Dhanya G S, Asst.
Profesor was the faculty Co-Ordinator of the programme.

ALBERTIAN SWACHTHA MISSION 2019
As part of the Albertian Swachtha mission 2019, on 2 October 2019 the students
of Department of Computer Science cleaned the areas of Banerjee Road. The
programme was inaugurated by Fr. Koshi Mathew, Asst. Director, Navadarsan,
Ernakulam.
COMPUTER LITERACY WEEK CELEBRATION 2019
The department of Computer Science celebrated the world computer literacy day
along the week from 02 December 2019 to 06 December 2019.The inauguration
of the programme was conducted on

WORKSHOP ON ANDROID
As part of the computer literacy week
celebration, the Department of
Computer Science organised a
workshop on android application
development On 03 December 2019.
The workshop started at 9 am. Ms.
Mahalekshmi V, Technical Head,
Infoblast Solutions lead the
programme. Ms. Rachana Arora,
Asst. Professor was the faculty co-
ordinator of the programme. The students get an opportunity to develop an
android application during the workshop. The certificates were distributed to the
students. The programme came to an end at 1.30 pm.
HANDS ON TRAINING IN GOLANG
As part of the computer literacy week celebration, the Department of Computer
Science organised a hands on training
on GoLang on 05 December 2019. The
programme started at 10 am. Mr. Sarath

Pvt Ltd was resource person for the
programme. Ms. Dhanya G S, Asst.
Professor was the faculty co-ordinator
of the programme. GoLang is an open
source programming language
developed by Google that makes it easy
to build simple, reliable, and efficient software. The programme helps the
students to learn about the GoLang and its technical features. The programme
came to an end at 1.30 pm.
WORKSHOP ON PYTHON
As part of the computer literacy week celebration, the Department of Computer
Science organised a workshop
Python 3.5 on 06 December 2019.
The programme started at 9.30 am.

The department of Computer Science celebrated Christmas on 20th February
2019. The students participated in the star competition conducted by St. Albert’s
College (Autonomous).
ALBERTIAN KNOWLEDGE SUMMIT 2020
INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR IN SOCIO-ECONOMIC IMPACT OF
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
The Department of Computer Science organized an international seminar in
Socio-Economic Impact of Artificial Intelligence on 6th January 2020 at
Conference Hall. It provides a forum for academicians from multidisciplinary
areas to network and share knowledge. The program began at 10:00am with the
arrival of the Chief Guest Dr. Henry Poduthase, Director & Associate Professor,
Graduate Social Work Program, West Texas A & M University, Texas, USA and
other members of the dais. God’s presence was invoked at the onset of the
programme by a prayer song sung by Ms. Josna Mary and Ms. Roncy KJ, Sem II
Students. The official proceedings was
started with a Welcome Speech
delivered by Dr. M.L. Joseph,
Principal, St. Albert’s College
(Autonomous) in which
everyone was welcomed into the
seminar. He spoke about the
necessity of the Knowledge
Summit and its influence in the
all-round development of
students. The program was presided
by Rev.Fr. John Cristopher, Vice Principal, St. Albert’s College (Autonomous). He
spoke about artificial intelligence and its growing trend in today’s IT market.
Dr. Henry Poduthase spoke about its future impact in the field of education and
brought attention to the lag in technological advancements in the same field
within our country. Being a professor in America, he was able to bring forward
the comparisons in education methods between India and the west. He highlighted
how AI could influence the job market and how we must be prepared to tackle the
same. After the technical session the programme concluded with a vote of thanks
delivered by Ms. Sangeetha J, Head of the Department, Department of Computer
Science, St. Albert’s College (Autonomous).
SEMINAR IN INDIA 2030 : FUTURE OF IT
The Department of Computer Science organized a seminar in India 2030 : Future
of IT on 27th January 2020 at Bernard Hall with an aim to provide a forum for
academicians and professionals from computer science to share their knowledge.
The event commenced by invoking
the divine presence of Almighty with

The inauguration session was followed by the first technical session of AKS 2020
by Mr. Abhilash D S. Our chief guest is an imminent personality who has over 16
years of experience in Human Resource management, Industrial Relations and
general administration in electronics
and IT sectors.
The second guest of the day was Mr.
Sarath S, Technical Director, Kites
Software Pvt.Ltd, Kochi. He introduced
students with the concept of Machine
learning. He discussed about the role of
machine learning in various application
areas.
Our third guest of the day was Mr. Prasanth Sugathan. Mr. Prasanth Sugathan is
a technology lawyer and the Volunteer Legal Director at SFLC.in, a non-profit
organization based in New Delhi
that promotes innovation and
open access to knowledge and
helps to defend rights of citizens
in the digital space. His areas of
practise include technology law,
intellectual property law,
administrative Law and constitutional
law. He is an engineer turned lawyer
and has worked closely with the Free
Software community in India. His talk
focussed on the data privacy and cyber
ethics, that made students awareness of
their rights as well as the small
mistakes they might do over the internet that could lead to potential damage to
themselves as well as the society. Ms. Rachana Arorara, Asst. Professor and AKS
Co-Ordinator delivered vote of thanks.
The afternoon session of AKS commenced from 2 PM, during which Paper
Presentations with respect to latest technologies in Computer Science were
conducted. Papers were presented by faculties various institutions and students.
ALBERTIAN EDUCATIONAL EXPO 2020
The Department of Computer Science organized five stalls for the AEE 2020.
2017-20 batch put a stall named POV Display under the guidance of Mr. Amal M
R. 2018-21 batch put a stall named Smart Bin guided by Ms. Dhanya G S and 2019-
22 put a stall named Arduino based obstacle detecting and avoiding robot guided
by Ms. Rachana Arora. The department organized a career stall and a IoT stall in
home automation.
OPEN COURSE
The department of Computer Science conducted open house for the odd semesters
in the month of February and March 2019 and even semesters conducted in the
month of March 2020.
SPORTS DAY
The Department of Computer
Science celebrated the sports day
along with BBA department on
30th January 2020 in the sports
campus. Most of the students from
all the batched participated in the
event. The Sem-6 students won
the overall trophy in the
competition. Mr. Amal M R was
the faculty co-ordinator of the
programme.
PUBLICATIONS
The department of Computer Science released Year Book 2019 in the month of
August 2019. The Department of Computer Science published Lab Manual for C-
Programming for Sem-1 and Lab Manual for Data Structures using C++ for Sem-
3 on October 2019.

your Android as Hackinh Machine (1 hour), Responsive Web Design with

System with PHP and MySql (33 minutes) conducted by Udemy in the month
of May 2020.
