YWAM stands for Youth With A Mission and is an international volunteer movement of Christians from many backgrounds, cultures and Christian traditions, dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world.

The purpose of YWAM is simply:

The second half of the year is a 6 month* placement in your chosen location. This is where you get first hand experience of missionary life, as you serve alongside long-term missionaries. There are a wide variety of projects available for each participant to get involved with, such as healthcare, church ministry, caring for street children, youth or children’s work, evangelism, relief and development to name a few… there really is something for everyone! Opportunities vary between locations.

Each DTS includes an outreach, where again you’ll experience a different culture and lifestyle. The 2 month DTS outreach is where you share your faith to those in need of His love, truth and freedom. You get to apply the lessons learnt in the lecture phase, and see God move in you and through you.

You could find yourself doing evangelism, serving the poor in practical ways, children or youth ministry, building new friendships, teaching and preaching, working with churches or involved with relief and development. Every outreach is different, and for many students it’s the most amazing, fulfilling and life-changing time of their lives!

DTS is a beneficial foundation for a lifetime of following Jesus and aims to equip Christians to spread the truth and strengthen their faith.

YEAR FOR GOD IN SOUTH AMERICA WILL BRING YOU TO THE CITY OF SANTA CRUZ IN BOLIVIA WHERE YOU WILL GET A FEEL FOR A DIFFERENT CULTURE IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE AS THE YEAR BEGINS WITH AN ENGLISH AND SPANISH BI-LINGUAL DTS! After this, you will become part of the team at Operation Restoration, a YWAM ministry working with the city’s street children and teenagers, with the aim of getting them off the streets and giving them a future. Operation Restoration run several homes providing the children with a loving, Christ-centred environment, an education, and the help and support they need to grow. Your time here would involve befriending and discipling the children and joining in with activities ranging from sports to baking! Year for God from YWAM is a fully-submersive 12 month programme, designed to raise up, equip and release you for a life of mission.

Students travel to wonderful locations to serve, minister and share the Good News of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Each location varies depending on the needs at that time, and below is just a snapshot of what you can expect...

YEAR FOR GOD IN UGANDA IS BASED AT THE HOPELAND YWAM BASE OVERLOOKING LAKE VICTORIA WHERE YOUR DTS WILL BEGIN.There’s a wide range of options for your placement in the second part of the year with projects running out of the Hopeland base plus the several other YWAM bases across Uganda.

The projects include working at the base pre-school and primary school, reaching out to young people through sport, working in a home for babies and children affected by HIV/AIDS, working in the healthcare clinic, plus many more.

YEAR FOR GOD IN INDIA WILL BRING YOU TO THE STUNNING FOOTHILLS OF THE HIMALAYAN MOUNTAINS.The DTS outreach will either be India or another country and the placement phase will be in India, in the locality of the base.

Opportunities for the work placement include teaching English, children’s ministry, ministry to travellers, working in the slums and ministering in home groups.
