The “Creating Parent Portal Accounts” (also in Spanish) report is available under “Print a Report.” This letter should not be distributed until there is a signed letter from a parent requesting the Parent Portal Access id and Password on file in the school. This request letter should go out in the first-day packets.

If a parent has trouble creating an account, the school staff should make every effort to help the parent before referring them to the School Board Office staff.

Troubleshooting:1. Since the Access ID is based upon the student’s last name and must be

5 characters in length, it is necessary to type a space for a four-letter last name Access ID (For Example, an Access ID of Barb would require the parent to insert a space at the end of the word.

2. The Parent, wishing to create an account for the first time, must click on “Create an Account” to get started. There is sometimes a tendency to try to enter the Access ID and Password into the top two fields.

Any parent who had an account previously (even at another SCPS school), may continue to use their username and password and does not need another Access ID. If a parent has forgotten his/her username and/or password, a staff member may:In PowerSchool, search on the student.From the left menu bar>Access Accounts.Under Parent Access Accounts, click on the parent’s name. From this screen, you can see the username and can assign a new password for the parent. A good practice is to assign the password to match the username. The system will direct the user to change the password upon his/her next login.Click on Submit.
