around Old Faithful but also plan on skiing more in areas that typically see less use, thereby sampling more of this beautiful national treasure. To allow maximum flexibility in selecting our daily ski tours, we will stay in West Yellowstone, MT and drive or snowcoach to our trailheads in the Gallatin Range and Yellowstone. All tours will be day trips in the 6 to 12 mile range at an altitude of 7000-8500 feet. Incredible wonders reward your efforts. This trip is designed for

the intermediate skier, no beginners please. You need to have solid skills including good downhill control and turning ability and have skied in non-groomed settings. We generally ski in areas that may be tracked by others, but we normally do not ski in “groomed”

areas. Participants should be in good physical condition and wider backcountry Nordic equipment is recommended. The tours selected will emphasize touring and scenic pleasure over mostly moderate terrain. The trip is not designed for maximum vertical or extreme skiing. Please view this link for highlights from a recent similar trip (Nordic BC Ski Highlights). Due to federal regulations, trip size is limited to 12 so early application is strongly encouraged. We fly into Bozeman MT, pick up vehicles, and head for our home base in West Yellowstone. The vehicles will also be used for our transportation to the best snow for most of our ski tours. We will stay at an AAA 3-diamond rated hotel in West Yellowstone. Typical accommodations will be 2 persons per room (queen beds). A full menu breakfast with buffet will be provided each morning in the attached restaurant. The cost of approximately $3600.00 includes airfare from Boston (there may be slight differences if flying from other cities), all breakfasts and dinners (except while in route), lodging and vehicle fees. Not included are costs for lunches, insurance, airport departure taxes, items of a personal nature. Trip fee is based upon current airfares, transfer fees, vehicle rental and hotel rates. Increases must (unfortunately) result in increased cost. There is an

additional fee of $60 for each non-AMC member. All travel arrangements must be made through the leaders. Requests for early arrivals or later departures must be communicated to the leader no later than the 1st of

October. A reservation deposit of $500.00 per person is due upon application. The balance is due in two payments: $1600.00 by October 1 and $1500.00 due by November 15. Cancellation fee will be based on many factors but cancellation will not be allowed to raise the cost to the other participants or leaders. The minimum fee will be $200. Note that any expenses incurred on your behalf such as non-refundable airfare, will be assessed at full value. The trip fee includes emergency medical and evacuation insurance coverage, which is required by the AMC. It does not include insurance for travel delay, interruption, or cancellation, or for baggage loss. If the possibility of such problems concerns you, individual travel insurance is suggested. The AMC has a recommended vendor whose material will be sent to you if your application is accepted.
