Ordering/Fabricating parts from UI Facilities…
2.) Ask Russ Porter if (First check yourself)-Parts can be fabricated in Machine shop-Stock is available in shop
3.) Check the Facilities Catalog located in the Machine shop

5.) Designate a team purchaser who will be responsible for all purchases- The following steps will be
completed by the team purchaser
4.) Talk to Russ Porter about- Parts/stock to make sure that other
resources wont be cheaper- Approximate cost of stock in the
market
6.) Go talk to Molly Steiner in EP324G- Ask for a budget number- Ask for an activity code
7.) Go to UI Facilities - Ask for quote on fabrication work- Cost of parts ordered
8.) Fill out blue Work Order form- Get it checked from Team
mentor- Get Team Advisor’s signature- Once form is filled take two
copies of it.
NOTE!!!
Purchase Restrictions:• Alcoholic Beverages/Controlled
Substances• Weapons/Ammunition• Food/Water/Entertainment• Hospitality Expenses/Gifts• Household Moving Expenses• Office Decorations• Personal Items• Utilities/Cellular Phone Charges• Radioactive/Hazardous Materials• Consulting Fees/Individual Contractors
NOTE!!! Make sure team has enough funds to make the purchases!!!
9.) Go back to Molly Steiner- Turn in the original Work Order form
10.) Once form is turned in- Place the order at UI Facilities
and give them one of the Work Order copies
- Make sure to keep a copy with you
NOTE!!!
- The UI Facilities bills the Mechanical Engineering Department at the end of each month
- Also double check with the facilities and ask for updates on the delivery
11.) Notify Molly when you receive the materials
