TOGETHER WE CAN DO SO MUCH MORE2014 Annual ReportYMCA OF CENTRAL TEXAS

We employ about 250 teens and young adults ages 16-24, providing a foundation for their future careers and economic potential.

In partnership with the Armed Services YMCA and the Department of Defense, our Y is

proud to offer memberships to 65 active military families and personnel. It’s our way of giving back to those who dedicate

themselves to serving our country.

200 generous donors gave to our cause. 100% of those funds helped us provide $334,473 in financial assistance, giving everyone the opportunity to be healthy, confident, connected and secure.

Volunteerism powers our Y. Volunteers gave almost 3,182 hours of their time valued at more than $73,186. The Todd Behringer family donated

a Hanovia UV system for the Waco Family YMCA lap pool. The UV system reduces our water use by 150,000 gallons each year.

More than 150 elementary and middle school students learned fundamental water-safety techniques through Swim to Safety — a four-day program.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITYGiving back and providing support to our neighborsWith our doors open to all, we work every day to connect people from all backgrounds and support those who need us most. We take on the most urgent needs in our community and inspire a spirit of service in return. Our members, volunteers, supporters and staff demonstrate the power of what we can achieve by giving back together.

Active Older Adults increase their self-confidence and sense of achievement while building relationships within their AOA community. Every month, 300 Active Older Adults participate in water fitness classes. Another 30 became more active, energized, and empowered for independent living thanks to Enhance®Fitness — a proven community-based senior fitness and arthritis management program.

28 cancer survivors reclaimed their total health thanks to LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA — a free 12-week program.

We offer nearly 200 fitness classes every week across two branches.

About 40% of children in Waco-McLennan County are above their healthy body weight. Nearly 25 kids ages 7-13 and their families learned howto reach and maintain a healthy weightthrough MEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition, Do It!)— a free 10-week evidence-based lifestyle program.

HEALTHY LIVINGImproving the nation’s health and well-beingHealth and well-being are all about balance. That’s why we help people and families build and maintain healthy habits for spirit, mind and body in their everyday lives. By helping kids, adults, families and seniors from all backgrounds improve their health and well-being, we build a stronger community.

We are ensuring children have access to meals during out-of-school time, when they need them most. We nourish youth with more than 101,800 meals and snacks through our Year Round Food Program.

While learningto love a sport, more than 1,500 kidsimproved theirskills andpracticedsportsmanship.

2,325 children ages 6 months to 12 years learned to swim — an invaluable life skill.

1,300 kidshave a safe and healthy

place to gofor out-of-school care

while their parents work or further

their own education.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENTNurturing the potential of every child and teenAll kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve under the guidance of adults who care about them and believe in their potential. We see every interaction with young people as an opportunity for learning and development.
