YOLO LODGE #195FROM THE EAST- THE PILLAR OF WISDOM

IMPORTANT NOTICE STATED MEETING WILL BE JULY 11th due to theFourth of July falling on the same day as our usual Stated Meeting date.

Well if you haven't noticed the weather is warming up and so is Yolo #195 from thekitchen to the lodge room. For the month of June, we conferred a First Degree onMatt Swanson and a Second Degree Troy Holt. Now is the time to mark yourcalendars for an exciting event coming up- the famous Chili Cook Off at noon onJuly 13th. I am proud to say my wife Lisa won hands down last year. This yearthere will be a minimal cost of $5.00. However, if you commit to cooking yourfavorite chili and contact me at 530-219-905, your donation will be waived.

Another fun and tasty event will be Bill Harp Day on Aug 10. A 3rd Degree willstart 11:00 am and food and great fellowship will follow at 1:00 pm. REMEMBER,this is a family and friends day to enjoy great food and fellowship, and best of allthis is a no cost event.

As I mentioned earlier, the kitchen is heating up and the best example to this wasthe very successful Father's Day breakfast that raised enough funds to cover overtwo scholarship. Thank you all so much who attended this event. I want to give agreat big thanks to the Stalls, Julie, Rich, Elaine, Lilly, Mike and his wife Elaine, the Browns, Jake, Daphne, Justice, and Isaiah. My servers and helpers Lisa and mydaughter Allie, Alex Townsend, Kevin Pascual, and yes Stephe Kershaw who keptus moving with new placemats and so much more.

YOLO LODGE #195FROM THE EAST- THE PILLAR OF STRENGTH

The first half of 2013 has gone by, much faster than I expected. Yolo Lodge hasheld several degrees so far, received more applications and has participated in aFirst and Third Degree at Woodland Lodge. We have seen a few internationalBrothers attend our meetings and even participate in a degree. And we had whatmay be our most successful Father’s Day breakfast ever, raising money for our highschool scholarship program.

The second half of the year looks to be busy too. In August we will host a ThirdDegree, with San Leandro Lodge Brothers and their Ladies, in honor of WorshipfulBill Harp. The date for this Degree is Saturday August 10. At least one SecondDegree is in the works as well. And of course the usual meetings and such. So asthese events come around, think about stopping by and sitting on the sidelines, toshow support of the new members progressing through the Degrees. If you wouldlike a phone call or email remember, contact me and I can add you to my list.

WOODLAND LODGE #81FROM THE EAST- THE PILLAR OF WISDOM

Brethren and Families; The year is half over and time seems to be passing faster each day.

We initiated two new Brothers in June, Bro Kurtis Rowe and Garland Aday. BroRowe was recently passed to the Degree of Fellowcraft; his Third Degree isscheduled for July 25, at 7 pm. Be sure to come down to the Lodge and supportBro Kurtis on this important event in his life; light refreshment will follow thedegree. Bro Garland will be working with his coach to prepare for his First DegreeProficiency.

As I write this article I am down at the Fireworks Booth where we are sellingfireworks to support the Woodland Masonic Youth groups, and the scholarshipfund. We all very much appreciate the time and dedication of all the Masons, parents, advisors, and friends who brave the 3-digit temperatures for many hours tomake the booth a success.

Our Youth Appreciation Picnic had a small but dedicated group in attendance andeveryone had a good time; Wor Paul manned the grill and Wor Ed brought hisdelicious homemade rootbeer. A special thank you goes out to Brother Ron Krugand Dad Brian Walsh for their assistance.

Our July Stated Meeting dinner will be classic summertime food- hamburgers, hotdogs, salads, and watermelon.

Until I see you again, stay cool,Paul HaynesMaster Woodland Lodge 81
