WHAT IS YOPAC?

Youth Outreach for the Performing Arts Center, or YOPAC, is a unique program that brings rich and diverse

performing arts experiences to every student on the Central Coast. The mission of YOPAC is to provide invaluable

opportunities for local students to participate as audience members, performers, and investigators of the

performing arts.

A BRIEF HISTORYYOPAC has been operating within the Performing Arts Center since the facility’s inception in September of 1996,

nd prior to that under the auspices of the Foundation for the Performing Arts Center. Initially, YOPAC focused odeveloping what are now its two largest programs: School Matinee Performances and Young Artists Onstage.

Within the rst few years, these programs experienced such success within San Luis Obispo, they were expanded

erve the entire San Luis Obispo County and parts of Santa Barbara County.

YOPAC PROGRAMSSchool Matinee Performances

Through School Matinee Performances, the Performing Arts Center provides non-prot arts organizations a dee

discounted rental rate, and in return they provide an opportunity for K-12 students to attend performances duri

he school day.

Young Artists OnstageYoung Artists Onstage involves organizations with school-age performers, such as local middle and high school

bands and choirs, using our state-of-the-art facility at a signicantly reduced rental rate, saving thousands of do

nd allowing students the extraordinary experience of performing in a world-class performance hall.

Transportation Scholarship

n an eort to help oset growing transportation costs for schools attending matinee performances, the

Transportation Scholarship program hope to increase student access to the PAC, merited on location in SLO Cou

Title I status, and overall demonstrated need.

Professional Development Workshops for Teachers in the ArtsYOPAC provides a series of professional development workshops for area teachers bringing classes to School

Matinee Performances. Each workshop centers on a particular matinee performance and includes standards-ba

earning and hands-on activities in the four main art forms.

To date, YOPAC has made it possible for a quarter of a million local students to experience the performing arts

rst-hand at the Performing Arts Center, San Luis Obispo.
