\This past weekend, Formula Drift returned back to the track where it all started. The infamous Road Atlanta. Coming off a first place finish in Long Beach Yoparts.com sponsored driver Ryan Tureck and the Gardella Racing team. Were more than feeling the heat of the spotlight and the pressure to once again deliver a championship performance, although the Gardella Racing team was confident in their car, and it’s Pilot Ryan Tuerck. They knew that Road Atlanta posed some unique challenges in comparison to Long Beach. The Gardella Racing team worked tirelessly to dial in the car for the legendary road course. After tweaking, and testing to compensate for the some additional horsepower that they didn’t have for this course last year. The team found that their might be some small gearing and transmission issues, also to ensure suspension set-up would not pose a problem YOPARTS.COM happily supplied a set of Eibach ERS Springs for the Gardella Racing/Maxxis Tire Solstice.

Come Friday the car was ready and dialed in for completion. Ryan and the Gardella Racing/Maxxis Tire Pontiac Solstice GXP blasted through qualifying scoring and eighty and seeding ninth. The top 32 was set for Saturday, round 1 pitted Tuerck against Casper Canul. Canul’s car experienced some tech issues during their battle and he was unable to continue the battle. In round two Hampshaa would go up against his good friend and Drift Alliance teammate Vaughn Gittin Jr. The battle between the two was intense and heated but the Formula D point’s leader proved to be too much for JR. Ryan advances to Top 8 where he would face Ken Gushi in the Scion Racing Scion TC. With Gushi’s car having understeer issues Ryan makes short work of his opponent and advances to the final 4. In the final 4 battle Ryan would go up against the second of three Drift Alliance teammates he would have to face before the end of the night. The second was last years Road Atlanta champ Chris Forsberg. In the second run versus Forsberg,

Ryan is forced to make a small correction, and is defeated by the 2008 Hotlanta champ. Ryan fails to make the championship round but moves to the consolation round against yet another friend a DA member Joon Maeng. The battle goes two one more times and Tuerck emerges victorious, securing 3rd place and finding himself a top the podium. With the third place finish Tuerck and Gardella Racing remains number one in the Formula D point’s standings and the race for the 2009 season championship.
