YORKSHIRE AUTO TRADER BARC HAREWOOD HILLCLIMB CHAMPIONSHIP FIFTH ROUND
Heading the Yorkshire Auto Trader BARC Harewood Hillclimb Championship is Durham City Council Chartered Town Planner Peter Herbert In his Westfield. Peter shattered the up to 1400cc class record by a second In July and now has a two point iead.
Another man on the move is Keith Wilford, the Sheffield Lotus Europa driver has put his mid-season mechanical problems behind him but needs a resurgence of his early season class record breaking form to close on the leader.
In third place. Peter Hamilton is two points behind the Europa driver but the Barrowford man must increase his pace If he is to challenge the two leaders. Unfortunatly the Caterham is giving away capacity to other cars in his class, his 1600CC engine straining in a class where the record has been set by a two litre car.
A magnificent fourth in the overall championship, Burton on Trent driver Nick Reeve in the 110Occ Megapin single seater is also leading the FTD Championship, no mean feat in such a small capacity car.
Fifth place man and first Formula Ford driver is Andrew Henson who could possibly displace Nick Reeve from fourth place but similarly, as the points are so close, the Clio of Bobby Fn/ers could demote Andrew down to 6th.
Unfortunately Dave Kitching has been unable to secure an entry for this event and consequently will tumble out of the Top Ten. Matthew Pinder, in his superbly conducted Metro, will be the main beneficiary of Dave’s ill luck and so should move up the order.
In 9th place Bob Prest in his Mallock has scored steadily all year and should maintain his position within the top ten as should Formula Ford driver Jeff Norton.
FTD CHAMPIONSHIPNick Reeve's position at the top of the leader board could be seriously
threatened by Tadcaster driver Mike Smith, who scored a maximum of 10 points at the July meeting in his 2 litre single seater Reynard. Colin Wheeler or Duncan Pierce could displace Dave Kitching as the Jedi driver is not entered today.

CLASS 1 TO 5 CHAMPIONSHIPOur five new classes 1, 2, 3,4 & 5 will not be included in the marking for tine
main 1997 Yorkshire Auto Trader BARC Harewood Hillclimb Championship, this is because of the unavailability of class records on which to base the Bogey Times. These five classes will, however, compete for an additional souvenir award during the 1997 season.
Huddersfield man Tim Wilson in his road going Caterham has a seemingly unassailable lead and it would appear unlikely that any of his challengers will wrest the title from his grasp.
