Welcome Koby Radcliffe!

Trinity’s new Director of Youth & Young Adult Ministries

We are delighted to report that, after a prayerful and deliberate search process, the Board has approved the hiring of a new Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries. Koby brings a passion for youth and young adults to this position, as well as demonstrated excellence in teaching and leading youth and young adult groups. The search committee and Board of Stewards were impressed with Koby's sincerity, maturity, and passion. We are confident he will be able to make good, solid connections with the people he ministers with and to, and will be able to lead the youth group and young adult ministries forward in exciting ways. Please pray for Koby as he joins the team, and for the church, youth, and young adults as Koby seeks to lead in the direction the Lord is leading us.

A new platform for

a new beginning In order to facilitate the beginning of two services at Trinity on September 13, a new platform in the Worship Center needed to be designed and constructed. Thank you to the many volunteers who spent all day Saturday, August 22, and multiple afternoons and evenings to complete this project. Those who helped are: Kip Bloomer, Latham & Mindy Boe,

Don Copeland, Mike Holmes, Brian Johnson, Lloyd Johnson, Dan Lammert, Bryan Karel, Lance Karel, Dave Karel, Sydney Martindale, Walt McCoy, Jeffrey & Ebony Ramquist, Ethan Rud, Jacob Rud, Ross & Tracy Rud, Keon Sjostrom, Dave Spangler, Joe Stodola, Pastor Peter Vogt, Tom Wagner and David White.

Help Wanted:

Technology Intern

Trinity Baptist Church seeks a part time (up to 12 hours per week) technology intern. Responsibilities include updating and maintaining the church’s website, advancing Trinity’s social media presence and use, supervising sound and video support for two worship services (traditional and contemporary) and rehearsals, and other miscellaneous support for technology. Successful candidates should plan on being present on Sunday mornings as well as rehearsal times. Experience with website design and sound equipment preferred. Trinity Baptist Church is experiencing a revitalization that includes a refined vision for the church and the establishment of a contemporary service in addition to a traditional one. We are seeking to connect with the neighborhood and world around us. The tech intern will help advance this vision by ensuring that our digital presence is state of the art and able to demonstrate our identity and vision to the world around us. Candidates will report to the Senior Pastor and should be supportive of the affirmation of faith and be prepared to support the vision of the church. Pay: $11.00/hour Contact: Renee Nelson, Business Manager (651) 774-8609, ext. 370, or [email protected]

Attention Youth Parents! There will be a youth parents’ meeting on Sunday, September 13, at 6:30 p.m., in Room 8. This meeting will give you the opportunity to hear from Director of Youth & Young Adults Koby Radcliffe about plans for the new year. Please note: Youth Group will begin on Sunday, September 27, from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.

The Times They Are

A’ Changin’ Change is coming. With the new schedule starting Sunday, September 13, things will look a little bit different. Here are some things you can expect to see in the new schedule. Communications – your bulletin will be different. It will be more streamlined and contain only the most essential information. More detailed information will be available on the website, on Facebook, and in a new (again) monthly publication, the Trinity Times. Material for the Trinity Times needs to be submitted to Renee Nelson by the 15th of the month for inclusion in the next edition. Look for new signs throughout the building and even in the parking lot to help new people orient themselves to the building and activities. Connection Cards – we will no longer be using the Friendship Pads to register attendance. Instead, each week your bulletin will include a “Connection Card” that everyone will be asked to fill out and place in the offering plate. This will allow you to register attendance, submit a prayer request, and even submit a question that will be answered following the sermon in the contemporary service. Seating – the balcony will not be available for seating starting September 13. With two services, there is ample room on the main floor for everyone, and we want to ensure that we are able to effectively worship together. When our numbers increase to necessitate additional seating, the balcony will be re-opened.

(over)

Seating for those with disabilities or limited mobility is available in the back of the center section and in front of the soundboard. Please leave these spaces available for people who need them. The Fellowship Room will continue to have the audio of the service available for parents and restless children and for overflow seating. Communion – we will continue to observe the Lord’s Supper on the first Sunday of the month. In the classic service, things will look largely the same as they do now (though fewer servers will be needed since the balcony will be closed). In the contemporary service, you will be invited to come forward to receive communion from one of two sets of servers. Coffee Connections – between the services, there will be opportunities for fellowship over coffee or juice (and, sometimes, other treats!). Refreshments will be available in the foyer, and the Fellowship Room will be available with seating and a more comfortable atmosphere to engage with one another. Adult education classes and the worship service will strive to be done right at 10:00 to facilitate participation in this important time of community building. Parking – four spots on the east side of the building will be designated parking for families with small children. If you have questions about the coming changes, please feel free to talk to a board or staff member.

Trinity Talk

Looking ahead to next Sunday: We will wrap up our examination of Deuteronomy and its relevance for us on the verge of transition by looking at Moses' call to the Israelites to dedicate themselves to God. We will consider how that applies to us as we seek to cross over into new, uncharted territory in obedience to God's leading.

Be a part of Congregational Care: Barnabas, Stephen and Onesiphorus all had one thing in common. They were men involved in a ministry of encouragement to the body of Christ. Trinity Care will train encouragers with four hours of basic training on Tuesday and Thursday evenings this week. We especially need men willing to visit and encourage Trinity members. See Rod Larson or sign up at the Ministry Fair if you wish to be included. Trinity Care is an “anytime” ministry. You do not need to be retired or available during the daytime hours to participate.

“Catch Up” Sunday

September 6, 2015

Why do we need a “Catch-Up Sunday?” As of July 31, our General Fund giving was approximately $70,000 short of

our actual expenses for the year. The idea of a “Catch-Up Sunday” is to position us for success as we begin a whole new chapter of ministry on Sunday, September 13. The goal of our Catch-Up Sunday offering is to reduce that deficit as much as possible prior to our launch Sunday. Please consider giving a one-time special gift on Sunday, September 6, to help us reach that goal.
