What is a habitat?• A habitat is an environment with conditions which are
suitable for a certain animal.
You could think of it as an animal’s
home. One habitat can be a home for lots of different animals.

Are all habitats the same?
You might think that all land and underwater environments are the same but actually there are many different conditions and habitats!
What are some different places thatAnimals can live in on land?
![Page 4: You could think of it as an animal’s home. One habitat can be a home for lots of different animals](https://reader034.vdocument.in/reader034/viewer/2022051415/56649dd35503460f94acb199/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
Who would live here?
![Page 5: You could think of it as an animal’s home. One habitat can be a home for lots of different animals](https://reader034.vdocument.in/reader034/viewer/2022051415/56649dd35503460f94acb199/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
Different animals need different conditions to survive.
Can certain animals live in the same habitat?
Give me an example

Parts of a Habitat…
All habitats have four important components (parts) for
wildlife: shelter, water, food, and space.

Humans and Habitats

In the beginning…Although the ocean was the original home of all life on Earth, forests, as they themselves evolved, quickly became home to a vast majority of land based creatures including early humans.
Today, the vast amount of diverse life that can be found in forests is evidenced by the startling statistics that accompany any analysis of a rainforest.
Although only covering 6% of the planet's surface, these lush green, often tropical masses contain around 50% of Earth's plant and animal species.

Forests as homes for life are disappearing
Considering so much life depends on and lives in forests, the fact that forest cover is now a smaller than it used to be even a few hundred years ago. Therefore there is less space for this diversity of life to live in, and increasingly greater contact with encroaching humans.

Forests are important not just to us, but to billions of other creatures and species as well.

Benefits of Habitats1. benefits to air, water and soil quality2. added value to the property3. providing food4. recreation [places to play and engage in
sports/hobbies]5. economic activity6. medicines7. educational benefits for students and scientists
