VNA Enhancing Telehealth with Microsoft Teams

Blue Zones WorksiteThe City of Salinas is working to become a Blue Zones Community, a program to transform communities by encouraging residents to make heathier lifestyle choices and “live longer, better.” Part of that transformation is identifying businesses that strive to create a healthier work environment. VNA earned this designation! By signing the Blue Zone pledge, committing to making healthier lifestyle choices, having regular biometric screenings, and getting involved in our community, our employees have helped VNA commit to the Blue Zones way of life. Before you stash your grocery store haul, make sure you stock your refrigerator to keep your food at optimal freshness.

PRODUCE DRAWERSBest for fruits, vegetables and herbs.

Why? The most humid space in the fridge which helps preserve flavor and texture of produce.

Some produce drawers also allow you to adjust humidity level. Lower humidity is preferable for fruits, while higher humidity is better for vegetables

THE SHELVESBest for meats, dairy, eggs, seafood and leftovers.

WHY? The temperature is the most stable at the heart of your fridge, keeping these perishables at a consistent, cold temperature.

DOORSBest for condiments, dressings and pickles

WHY? It’s the warmest part of the fridge, so you’ll want it use it for non-perishables and hardier foods with a longer shelf life.

With so much information on the internet and in the news, deciphering what is important and up to date can be challenging.

Public Health Nurse, April Brazinsky, RN, developed a COVID Safety and Training education workshop to help business owners, community leaders, and volunteers understand COVID 19, proper use of PPE, and how to keep themselves, their employees and clients safe. In addition to COVID 19 safety education, we have worked with area dental offices to fit staff with N95 masks and provide instruction on proper handling and disinfecting. April has worked with nonprofit organizations including; Carmel Valley Rotary, Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, The Boys and Girls Club, Gathering for Women, and CHISPA. Area businesses are also working with Community Services to educate and prepare their employees as they begin to return to work.

VNA Immunization Clinic has continued to support the community with convenient, curbside vaccinations. Community members make an appointment and drive up to the front door! There is minimal contact and no wait time.

It was easy to make an appointment. I drove right up to the front door and the nurse was waiting for me. After my shot, I paid and made my next appointment right on the spot. I liked that it was done outside. I felt very safe.
