HERE’S THE SITuATIon:On June 12, 2009, all television stations will broadcast their signal digitally. There’s no need to throw out your analog television set, you may simply need a converter box to receive the signal. Instead, obtain a government-issued coupon to offset the cost of the converter box for your analog televisions by: (1) Applying online at www.dtv.gov (2) Calling 1-888-DTV-2009. If you choose to replace your television set, please do not put your old set in your trash can or in the alley. They will be sent to a landfill. Likewise, the Household Chemicals and Computer Recycling Facility does not accept television sets. Or take your old television set to a location* below.If you buy a new TV, beware of those with rock-bottom prices, make sure they can receive a digital signal.
