What Way Did Jesus Go?

• The way of Humility/Service

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a

thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the

likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming

obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. (Philippians 2:5-8 ESV)

For not even his brothers believed in him. (John 7:5 ESV)

After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him.

He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their

faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he has borne our griefs and carried

our sorrows…(Isaiah 53:3-4 ESV)

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who

are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen

gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing! See, your house is

left to you desolate.(Matthew 23:37-38 ESV)

Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I

do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works.

This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses. Being therefore exalted at the right

hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has

poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing. For David did not ascend into the

heavens, but he himself says,“‘The Lord said to my Lord,

“Sit at my right hand,until I make your enemies your footstool.”’

Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this

Jesus whom you crucified.” (Acts 2:32-36 ESV)

Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some

of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have

tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.
