What is speed?
Speed is a measure of how fast an object moves.

How is speed measured?
• Speed is measured by a unit of distance divided by a unit of time.

How do I calculate the speed of an object?
• In order to calculate the speed of an object, do the following:– Measure the distance the object went.– Measure the time that the object went.– DIVIDE THE DISTANCE BY THE TIME!

Example:Distance: 20 miles
Time: 4 hours
Speed = 20 miles ( 20 / 4 = 5 )
4 hours
The speed of this object is 5 miles per hour (mph).
