You’re Invited “SHOWERS OF BLESSING” for Brighter Tomorrows !
We want to be a blessing to Brighter Tomorrows as they minister to the needs of women and children who are victims of domestic violence. Victim Relief Ministries and the United Methodist Woman of The Woods are sponsoring the
SHOWERS OF BLESSING project during the month of May. !Each Sunday during the month of May tables will be set up in the commons area and manned by members of VRM and
UMW. If you would like to participate, here is how you can help. We ask that when you come to church on those Sundays, you bring something from the following list of items. These items are always in need by the residents at
Brighter Tomorrows. The women and children often come to the shelter with nothing in hand.
The mission of Brighter Tomorrows is to reduce violence in our communities and empower victims of domestic and sexual violence by
providing safe shelter and support services. Donation Needs

Hidden in plain sight in our community lies one of
the most odious crimes against humankind – Slavery, which is the result of the widespread
trafficking of human beings, exists in Grand Prairie. As concerned citizens we call on all people of good will to attend and become informed. Only then, can
we all work together to eradicate this unconscionable crime against humanity.

Take Out Barbecue Lunch! Here is your chance to have a Sunday lunch you don't have to cook; and, support our church. On Sunday, May 24 you can pick up a box lunch after the 8:30 service, after
Sunday school or after the 11:00 service. Menu will be barbecue, a bun, potato salad, pickle spear and dessert. Cost for adult meal is $7.50. Childrens meal is $6.50. Tickets
will be on sale May 17 and May 24. All proceeds will be going to the general budget of the church. Pre-sale tickets only please, so that we have enough food. If you are wondering about picking up your meal after the early church service, barbecue will not be placed on the bun so that the barbecue can be heated up. If you need further information, please
contact Melody Marquez or Jane Lamb.
Thanks Times Three
So blessed for the wood work done to our stage area in the sanctuary. Roz Henwood and the Worship Team are to be commended for the idea to
restore the area. A faithful member with a heart of generosity donated the monies for the materials and labor for the work. Then Mike Tollefson used his skills and talent to do the required work and make it a thing of beauty.
Thank you all! It’s beauDful…and so are you! Look for more changes to the stage area as Gary Adgate, Music Director and company, seek to ‘do a new
thing’ in the coming months to the stage area.

I need your help geKng folks to use Albertsons Community Partner key tags. Our check from Albertsons will be $34.40 this quarter, the smallest we receive from the 3 grocery stores, because a few years ago, Albertsons made such a big deal saying, “No Card Necessary!” for 4 months when they changed their program. Then, they quietly slipped us key tags with the implied message, “Now, try to get people to use these!” Receipts were reduced by 90%. The key tags must be used every shopping trip. Even most of the cashiers say, “We don’t use cards anymore,” so I just tell them to scan it anyway & point out it is for their Community Partners program for my church! So, please help me spread the word. See their suggesDon below to “Seek Shoppers through Social Media.” Feel free to add my name & phone/email address. Pat Hayton, 972 262 8795, [email protected]. I can give key tags to people who request them, give you all a bunch of key tags, leave them in the office, or mail them out to folks who don’t aeend regularly. We can even reach out to friends & relaDves in other states where parDcipaDng Albertsons stores are located (NV,CO,AZ,NM,TX,LA,AR, FL). Thanks,
