Do you know what this is? It’s a Bible, and it’s all about God’s story, and how he rescued us! In the beginning, God made the whole world and everything in it. He made the sun and moon and planets and stars. He made forests and mountains and oceans. He made all kinds of animals, like lions and elephants and birds!

Next, God made his most special creation of all–PEOPLE! Like you and me! The first two people were named Adam and Eve. They lived in a beautiful garden filled with flowers and trees and fruit. They got to spend time with God everyday! And it was GOOD. Can you show “good” again? Awesome!

THEN, something sad happened. Can you show me sad? A snake lied to Adam and Eve, and they believed him, and disobeyed God. Then, all the wrong things came into the world, like sickness, and sadness and death. But the story doesn’t stop there….because even though Adam and Eve disobeyed God, God still loved them, just like he loves us! And he came up with a rescue plan so that Adam and Eve, and YOU and ME, could be close to God again! And our Rescuer is Jesus. Can you show me the sign for “Jesus”? Great job!

ACTIVITY 1 VIDEO ACTIVITY 2

Have you ever gotten sick? It is not fun! Now, when you feel sick, you probably take medicine, or maybe go to the doctor, right? Well today we’re talking about a guy who got really sick, and he needed God to help him feel better!

This man was named Naaman. He had a disease on his skin, and it hurt sooo bad. Have you ever been sick, or gotten hurt? It’s not very fun. Naaman was also kind of mean. He didn’t treat people very kindly. Then, he met a man named Elisha!

Elisha told Naaman to dip himself in a dirty, stinky river...seven times! Naaman probably thought this was pretty weird. What could a river do to help him!? The thing is, sometimes God asks us to do things we don’t totally understand. He wants us to obey him no matter what. And that’s what Naaman did. He obeyed God. And because of that, God healed him of his sickness! He made the skin disease go away! But even more importantly….God helped Naaman feel better on the INSIDE too.

God wants US to obey him too, just like Naaman did. When we obey God, we do what he tells us to do, even if we don’t always understand it. So what’s one way YOU could obey God this week? Think about it in your head really hard right now! [pause] Ok, got it? Let’s pray and ask God to help us do that right now!

Let’s pray to Jesus right now. When we pray, that means we talk with Jesus, and listen to him...and he listens to us too! You can say these words after me: Hey Jesus! We love you. Help us to obey you.Thank you for rescuing us.

ACTIVITY | 10+ minutes

● Set out a river image on each table where kids can reach.● Give each kid a Popsicle stick and a double-sided Naaman image.● Set out crayons or markers and have the kids color each “Naaman” (One side has spots, and

shows him as sick. One side is normal, and shows him as healthy.)● Set out tape and help kids attach Naaman onto the Popsicle stick. Then act it out!

○ Lets reenact the story by “dipping” Naaman on the river image seven times and act like it’s gross, etc.

○ Now that Naaman is all better, have them turn him to the side with no spots! Act like he’s happy and healthy!

○ Say: “Naaman obeyed God, and WE can obey God!”● Give each kid a story card to take home.● Let kids do a coloring page and activity sheet if there’s extra time.

ACTIVITY 1 VIDEO ACTIVITY 2

Draw it!● Let kids draw or act out ways they could OBEY this week! ● Give each kid a piece of paper and markers. ● Encourage kids to draw a picture of one way they can obey God this week. If they need

help, give them suggestions like obey my parents, do my chores, read the Bible, pray, be nice to my brother/sister, etc.

Act it Out!● Let kids act out different parts of the story! Choose one kid to be Naaman, one kid to be

Elisha, and one kid to be the little servant girl.● Let kids reenact the story (you can use the video script found earlier in this lesson as a

guide to help retell the story).
