Why Be Organized?
Planning has been proven to:Reduce stress Reduce ineffective study habits such as crammingHelps prevent students from feeling overwhelmedIncreased productivityTeaches a life skill that will benefit you in the
future!!!
Learning to Plan Takes Practice
You may wake up one day and say, “Hey, I want to learn how to be more organized!”
However, it takes time!
Tips for Using a Planner
#1 Choose the Right Planner
Choose a planner that is right for you!
Only you know what works best.
Planners come in all different sizes and styles.
#2 Name Your Planner
Yes, that’s right, give it a name!
You are less likely to neglect (ignore) something with a name and a strong identity.
P.S. You don’t have to tell anyone their name!
#3 Make the Planner Part of Your Daily Routine
Carry it with you all the time!
Remember to check it every morning and every night.
#4 Fill in Your Assignment Due Dates as Soon as You Learn Them
Get in the habit of writing in your planner while you’re still in the classroom. *hint – this is why I always say, “take out your planners and write your homework!”
#5 Use a Color Coding System
For instance, write all birthdays in pink, or highlight them in pink.
Use a system that works for you.
#6 Put EVERYTHING in Your Planner
I mean EVERYTHING! (appointments, birthdays, homework assignments, important events, due dates of projects, etc.
Your planner can even be your telephone.
It will help you be more organized. I PROMISE! =)
#7 Cross Things Out
Cross out events and assignments that were due and have passed.
This way, you know what you need to focus on in the future.
If you have new ideas about staying organized, share them! I always love hearing new ideas!
