Cunninghame FurnitureRecycling Company North Ayrshire Council and Cunninghame Furniture RecyclingCompany (CFRC) are working together to:

Reduce the number of household items going to landfill, and

Increase the number of items which can then be re-used withinthe community

If you have household items which could be re-used and are free ofstains/marks/tears/scratches or in the case of electrical items are ingood, working condition, please contact Cunninghame FurnitureRecycling Company as they may collect your items for FREE.

Many reusable items can be uplifted by CFRC such as:

Sofas (with fire safety label) Living Room Furniture

Tables and Chairs Beds and Bedroom Furniture

Kitchen White Goods Lamps

TVs

You can contact CFRC on 0800 221 8083 to arrange a freecollection of your reusable items. CFRC showroom is open Mondayto Thursday 9.30am to 5pm, Friday 9.30am to 4.30pm andSaturday 10am to 2pm. Alternatively you can take goods to theCFRC collection point located at any mainland Household WasteRecycling Centre (HWRC).

Please note if you are going to visit a HWRC with a van, pick up ortrailer, you will need a free household waste permit. For furtherinformation visit our website www.north-ayrshire.gov.uk or call ourcustomer service team on 01294 310000.

If your item is not reusable you can contact us toarrange a special uplift. There is a charge forthis service.

Waste CollectionWe will empty your bin as agreed and returnyour bin to your collection point

Please ensure your bin is put out by 7am on yourcollection day. If your bin isn’t out and our crewshave been to your street, we will not return to empty your bin

Bins must be returned to your property as soon as possibleafter collection

Disposing of additional non recyclable waste - we cannotcollect additional waste alongside your grey bin, this can bedisposed of at a local Household Waste Recycling Centre.Alternatively you can wait until your bin is emptied and thenput the waste into the bin ready for the next collection

If you regularly have too much waste to fit in your grey binthen you should check that you are not putting recyclablematerials such as paper, cardboard, or food in your grey bin

Reporting a missed collection - if we have missed your bin youcan report this online or by contacting us on 01294 310000

If a bin tag has been placed on your blue or brown bin this isdue to the wrong items being placed in your bin. You will needto remove the contamination from your bin before your nextscheduled collection day

Assisted Collections - if you are having difficulty putting yourbin out for collection and have nobody else who could do thisfor you, then you can apply for an assisted bin pull out service.This is when our refuse collectors will wheel your bin out fromyour property and return it to your property after it is emptied.To apply for the assisted bin pull out service please applyonline at The Hub, or call 01294 310000

Special Uplift – Large items can be collected as part of theCouncil’s special uplift service. There is a charge for thisservice. Did you know you can book a special uplift online?Refer to page 03 for reuse of your furniture

If you have a tag on your bin please remove and represent your bin onthe next collection day, as we will not return for your bin before hand.

Blue Bin RecyclingPlease do not contaminate your blue bin with black bags or liners.Place your items loose in your blue bin to help with sorting at theMaterials Recycling Facility. Items should be rinsed, don’t worryabout removing labels. Remember to recycle items from all roomsin your home. For example aerosols from the bathroom,newspapers from the lounge and soup cartons from the kitchen.

You can recycle the following Right stuff in your bluebin:

Clean cardboard

Mixed Glass – bottles and jars

Cartons – juice cartons/egg boxes/soup cartons

Plastics – fizzy drink bottles/milk bottles/detergent bottles/fruitor food trays/yoghurt pots

Metals – aluminium cans/biscuit tins/aerosols/food and drinkcans/bottle tops and jar lids

Mixed Paper – newspapers/magazines directories/shreddedpaper

Large cardboard boxes

Cardboard boxes which are too big to fit in your blue bin can beplaced at the side of your bin for collection (as long as it is a smallnumber of boxes). Flatten or tie the boxes together wherepossible.

Brown Bin RecyclingYour brown bin is for all organic waste from your garden and forfood waste from your home.

You can recycle the following Right stuff in yourbrown bin:

Grass cuttings Weeds

Leaves and bark Hedges and branches

Windfall fruit Straw (not from animal bedding)

Dairy Fish, meat and bones

Bread Rice and Pasta

Egg shells Fruit and vegetables

Tea leaves, tea bags and coffee grounds

Dead flowers and plants

Wrong stuffPlastic bags - please only use biodegradable bags to disposeof organic waste

Plastic Rubble Turf/soil

Wood of any kind Food or drink containers

Branches and hedges should be tied up inmanageable bundles, no longer than onemetre in length, and placed beside yourbrown bin. If you have a large amountof branches, please put them out overa few weeks rather than all at once.

Grey non-recyclable waste binYour grey bin should be used to dispose of household waste thatcannot be recycled. Help us reduce what we send to landfill byputting the Right stuff in the Right bin.

You can put the following Right stuff in the grey bin:Polystyrene Nappies Pet waste

Dirty cardboard Non reusable clothes*

*Please recycle good quality textiles at any textile banks, which canbe found throughout North Ayrshire, or donate to a charity of yourchoice. Only place non-recyclable textiles in your grey bin.

We will not lift any rubbish placed beside your bin. You can waituntil your bin is emptied and then put the waste into the bin readyfor the next collection. Alternatively additional waste can be takento one of our Household Waste Recycling Centres. See page 14.

Household Waste Recycling CentresOur Household Waste Recycling Centres allow householders todispose of small quantities of bulky household waste and access awide range of refuse and recycling facilities.

Our sites are for use by North Ayrshire householders only.

Please note: you may require a free Household Waste Tip Permitto access a Household Waste Recycling Centre if you are using avan, pick-up or a trailer. The permits are free and valid for 12months, allowing householders up to 12 visits during that period.For more information please visit our website.

Do I need a permit?Vehicles that don’t require a permit

4x4 less than 6’3” (1.9m) in height

Please note: if you have a roof rack, or box, fitted which causes any ofthe above vehicles to exceed the height restriction, you do not require apermit but please contact us to apply for an exemption before accessingany of the Household Waste Recycling Centres.
