BC Fellowship of Baden-Powell Guilds 2016 AGM

We decided to change the format of our AGM from a Saturdayafternoon and evening plus Sunday morning to a Saturdaymorning and afternoon. This was due to rising costs and thefact that many left before the Sunday morning anyway. Thisseemed to work fairly well and we are doing the same formatthis year. We still managed to have a lunch, campfire andScout's Own during our gathering. Alex Hadden

7th Baden Powell Guild

The 7th B-P Guild (Bytown) continued to have an activeyear in 2015/2016, with our monthly meetings combinedwith fellowship activities and some meetings held at localrestaurants. We ended the year with our June potluck atthe National Scout Headquarters, 1345 Baseline Road,Ottawa.Members of the 7th B-P Guild have been very active inhelping with the Canadian Scout Museum, the EasternOntario Service Centre and National Council.Under the excellent leadership of Don Judd, we againparticipated in the National Milestone Recognition Program. The Milestone Recognition Program was initiated by ScoutsCanada several years ago to show appreciation to adultleaders who volunteer their time in Sections, Groups, Areasor Councils across the country and have had a positiveimpact on Canadian Youth. Each year, myscouts.caidentifies those active Scouters who celebrate from one tofive years of service. Before the end of the Scouting year, each Group/Area/Council Commissioner receives a list byemail of all the leaders who are eligible to receiverecognition and is asked to verify email addresses for eachof the Leaders. The Scouters then each receive an emailto thank them for their service and invite them to select asmall item in appreciation of their service to Scouting.Members of the 7th B-P Guild, together with several friendsof the Guild, have participated in the Milestone processsince the spring of 2013. The first task each year is toassemble Group packing slips for the gifts in advance ofthe packing operation and then assist with the actualassembly of the Group gift boxes. While the packing slipsusually take a bit more than have a day to prepare, theactual selection of gifts, verification packing, weighing andshipping is done over three days, usually in March or earlyApril. Depending on their personal schedules, thevolunteers join with Scouts Canada staff to help completethe task.In 2016 the following members and friends of the 7th BPGuild helped Scouts Canada Staff with the process:Lynnette Anderson-Koshman, Gertrude Croft, Gladys Hall,Ken Hall, Don Judd, Janet Smith, Bob Snel, Dave Stinson,Dick Williams, Pauline Williams and Judy Fetes.

As for the Canadian Scout Museum, one of the 7th B-P Guildmembers (Don Judd) serves as Secretary of the Friends of theMuseum Committee and Lynnette Anderson-Koshman volunteerswith the operations of the Museum. The 7th B-P Guild membersassisted when the Canadian Scout Museum participated in theOttawa Doors Open weekend in June where prominent buildingsin Ottawa are open to the general public for tours.

In July, again under the leadership of Don Judd, the 7th B-P Guildwas asked to assist the National Scout Shop to package the pre-ordered new badges for the new Canadian Path program. Theprogram took well over a week in order to sort and package thenumerous badge orders, so they could be sent out to the Groupsin August, ready for the new Canadian Path implementation inSeptember, 2016.

As well the 7th B-P Guild continued to assist Eastern OntarioService Centre, doing special office filings and helping withgeneral office administration assistance.
