Opportunities to Perform and GrowChamber music ensemble performancesChamber music groups perform at Harper events and in concerts at other venues such as public libraries.

monthly student recitalsFrequent performances give students a special sense of accomplishment and help them develop confidence and poise. Students are encouraged to perform in two recitals per year. Parents and friends are invited to attend.

piano ensemble recitalThis recital showcases our Preparatory Piano Program. Each May, student ensembles perform in a “monster concert” playing pieces studied in their group lessons. This piano extravaganza is the highlight of the year for students, family and friends. All class piano students are required to perform in this concert.

piano festivalEach March, CMC hosts a non-competitive festival for piano students. Participants perform three compositions for an outside adjudicator. They are rated and receive a certificate for participating. All Intermediate and Advanced piano students (except adults) are required to participate in the Festival.

progress reportsOpen communication among students, parents and teachers is the most important element in student success. Each semester, parents receive a written progress report describing their student’s successes and areas for improvement.

Technique olympicsEach November, the torch is lit and the piano athletes assemble for the CMC Technique Olympics. Participating in a series of events, piano students earn gold, silver and bronze medals for their accomplishments in scales, arpeggios and other technical areas.
