Your November Design Idea Poster from QuickReads: We call them that because you can read them quickly. They were first designed in the mass market by USA Today, which wanted stories that conveyed information but could be read in their entirety while waiting in line at Starbucks. Perfect for yearbooks: they hold memories without too much text. QuickReads from all over: From the 2012 Whitney High School (Whitney , CA) yearbook, this QR covers something that happens in every school in a way that is interesting from graphic and content points of view. The staff at Tesoro High School (Las Flores, CA) created this homage to those who marched in the fight against breast cancer. The “ours” in the corner of the photo referred to their theme of "I Am" that featured personal pronouns throughout. The Bryant High School Hornet (Bryant, AR) had this well-designed QR running through their yearbook and calling attention to individual students by making them "one of the 2426," the total number of students in the school. A fun QR that kept reappearing throughout the 2012 Loudon Valley (Purcelllville, VA) Saga was this almost competition between two friends to see who knew a third friend the best. At the bottom of almost 75 percent of the pages in the 2012 Kirkwood High (Kirkwood, MO) yearbook was this “Take Note” feature. This outstanding QR carried through their graphic theme and put more than 300 additional student pics in the yearbook. Outstanding!
