55th Annual ART in the PARK Benefiting Boulder City Hospital
1
Welcome to Art in the Park 2017!
The Boulder City Hospital Foundation is pleased to host the 55th annual Art in the Park! Art in the Park is a grand tradition in our community and Southern Nevada. This year’s event features more than 300 artists, a cornucopia of delectable food offerings and a kid’s arts and crafts area sponsored by SOS Radio.
The funds raised through Art in the Park help Boulder City Hospital continue services such as mental health services, inpatient physical rehabilitation, Long Term Care plus numerous outpatient services like Surgery, Radiology and Laboratory for our community, visitors and the greater Clark County area.
Throughout our history, we have remained true to the idea of providing exceptional patient services. From our Emergency Room, to our Home Health program, we continually look to the future when making the necessary investments to keep the Hospital up-to-date with the latest technology to constantly improve access and quality in the delivery of healthcare services.
The medical staff and support personnel are more than just highly trained professionals; they are compassionate care givers. With over 200 physicians representing nearly 22 specialties, we are the only Critical Access Hospital in the area. Offering the healing touch when you need it, our team of professionals are dedicated to providing personalized services that improve the quality of life for our patients and our community.
Boulder City Hospital is the only hospital in Nevada that is not supported by a tax district, other regulated subsidies or a corporate parent. The financial support generated by Art in the Park contributes to our ability to continue to provide quality care close to home.
This wonderful event would not be possible without the support of our sponsors and our community. Over 300 volunteers have helped to make Art in the Park a favorite amongst our artists, crafters and visitors. We would be lost without the support of the City of Boulder City and dedication of our employees and City staff. We cannot adequately express our appreciation for each and every one of you. We are thrilled that you have chosen to spend some time with us and know that you will enjoy the festival atmosphere, exhibitors, and delicious food selections.
Please consider making a donation to Boulder City Hospital. You can visit our website at www.bouldercityhospital.org to make a donation online, or contact Wendy Adams at (702) 293-0214.
Thank you for attending the event. Your support is appreciated! Sincerely,
Thomas Maher

55th Annual ART in the PARK Benefiting Boulder City Hospital
For many Southern Nevadans, a treasured indication that Fall
is officially on the way appears as temperatures start to lower, days get a bit shorter and the beloved Boulder City Art in the Park makes its appearance the first weekend of October. Not only is it an art lovers dream come true, it’s the 55th Anniversary of this signature fund-raising event by the Boulder City Hospital Foundation with all proceeds going directly to the hospital and underlines its mission to provide the community with quality health care close to home. The annual event, which draws up to 100,000 visitors, is comprised of a varied and exciting range of artists, craftsmen, culinary delights and live entertainment. It is widely recognized as the largest outdoor juried art festival in the Southwest! This year’s event features hundreds of artisans spread throughout the heart of Boulder city amongst its four beautiful parks. It’s simply amazing that the Boulder City community has spent the past half century ensuring its residents are provided with superior health care and it all started from humble beginnings in 1962. Reaching way back to the 1930’s when Hoover Dam was a project guided by the WPA, thousands of workers descended upon the area to build one of the major marvels of the world at the
time. Due to the strenuous (and often times dangerous) work involved, the Government set up a facility to treat the workers and their families associated with the project. As the early 50’s rolled around, and with the project long done, it was decided by the government to close the facility. When the residents of this quaint, beautiful town heard the news it sent them into a grassroots mode with the sole aim of saving the Hospital and establishing a non-profit resource for its residents. Through hard work and innovative thinking the Women’s Hospital Auxiliary organized the first Art in the Park event in 1962 in Ralph and Sarah Denton’s back yard to go along with other fund raising events held throughout the year. As one of the city’s largest events, Art in the Park wouldn’t be successful without the combined efforts of members of our communities. It is the hard work of the Hospital Auxiliary, Hospital staff, Boulder City Chamber of Commerce, Boulder City Police and Fire Departments, Boulder City Parks and Recreation and the City of Boulder City, who make this festival successful. Everyone who can help comes out to set up the area days before the show. Countless hours of setting up booths, registering hundreds of artist and being sure that every little detail is covered
are managed by volunteers from in and around the community. Fine and traditional art, fine and traditional crafts can all be found at this spectacular event. Guests shop till they drop then gain refreshment at any number of food and beverage booths. Art in the Park always features a variety of food choices from hot dogs, hamburgers, roasted corn on the cob, barbecue sandwiches, Italian, Mexican, Greek, Thai and Chinese fare. And then the desserts and treats… funnel cakes, kettle corn, roasted nuts, fruity bars, frozen treats and more. Entertainment is a standard at Art in the Park. While strolling the parks and viewing artist works, guests are welcomed to relax in the shade at Bicentennial Park with refreshments while enjoying the stage entertainment from Boulder City’s traditional gazebo setting. Since the inception of the festival every talented artist has donated one original piece to the Art in the Park raffle. That tradition continues today, making every raffle prize a “hot treasure!” Raffle tickets are available at the event booth at the west end of Bicentennial Park. Raffle winners will be notified by phone and may pick up their prizes at the event or at the Boulder City Hospital Foundation office. For more information about Art in the Park or Boulder City Hospital please visit www.bouldercityhospital.org. To learn how you can support our community hospital; please contact the Boulder City Hospital Foundation at (702) 293-0214.

Wil Harmon Hanchey Cormier, artist, has been the owner of a fine art gallery in Las Vegas for the past 13 years. In the 1980’s and 90’s, he was a freelance illustrator in Southern California creating original art as movie posters, book and magazine covers before the days of digitally generated art. Some of the original works were for major movie poster campaigns such as “Home Alone II”, “Crocodile Dundee”, “Naked Gun I & II”, “Harry Potter” and much more. These original works of art are
highly collectible and some of which have sold at Sotheby’s auction house in New York. For the past two decades he has been selling hiexotic wild life and fantasy art
through galleries and to private collectors. His latest works of art, the Harmon Hanchey line, are all hand painted and involves beautiful coloring and very unusual texturing techniques.
The artist also takes personal pleasure in helping a variety of charities such as, The Tucson Sector Border Patrol Memorial, Covenant House for the Children and Mothers in Need, Down Syndrome Children, Disabled American Veterans, Local Schools and Law Enforcement, Louisiana Bar Foundation to help raise money for college tuition and Swimming with Autism by Tammy Anderson in San Diego California.

Inspiring Focused, Driven Leaders! If you have any questions or need further information, please contact:
Founder/CEO - Marie Tomao @ (702) 285-4142 or visit our web site at www.youthleadershipauthority.com

Allow me to take this opportunity to present an exceptional youth leadership program to you. The all-encompassing Youth Leadership Authority (YLA) is a non-profit organization that offers variety of youth leadership training programs for males and females, ages 13 to 21. Our goal is to keep teens continuously engaged in life-skill programs, mentoring, physical training and community service
projects all through their school careers, thus leaving them balanced and self-confident as they grow into adulthood.
Mission: To provide a variety of building-block opportunities for today's youth, their families, and educators; by offering a variety of continuous physical training programs, life-application tools, and community service programs that will develop America’s leaders with character and integrity to secure their future.
YLA has been operating successfully for the past twelve years as Southern Nevada Devil Pups (SNDP) as a 100% volunteer-ran organization through the Black Mountain Detachment Marine Corps League. YLA will continue to operate SNDP, and will also host a variety of other youth leadership programs to complement SNDP in order to better serve our youth. All our students must take part in community service projects throughout the Las Vegas valley in an effort to “pay it forward to the community that gives to them” and to promote earning, giving and
kindness.
YLA applies the principles of discipline, leadership and teamwork that are so well modeled by the United States Marine Corps. These traits combined with continuous physical fitness challenges and achievements, mentoring and community services efforts bring about a positive change with new formed habits. We pride ourselves in knowing 82% of our program participants go on to college. Our goal is to instill LEADERSHIP Values. In supporting YLA, you will help us provide these young men and women of today with some invaluable tools that will help them to become the productive adults and leaders of tomorrow. They will, after all, be taking care of us in a few short decades.
We operate SOLEY ON DONATIONS. Of course, any donation that you can provide is greatly appreciated and all donations are tax deductible under IRS Section 501c(3). Please make your check payable to: "Youth Leadership Authority" and mail to 631 N. Quote: Rapport and Devil Pups graduate Lcpl. Noe Sierra:
“There is going to be a lot of things in life that frighten you, but if you let it get in your way, you’re
not going to succeed, you’re not going to move forward. There is nothing more in life that I want, and that is, to see others succeed. I want to see
myself and others succeed, because that’s what life is about, succeeding, but not alone, together.”
