DQS MED, the no�fied body located in Frankfurt, Germany, has a much wider scope amongst the no�fied bodies for Medical Device Direc�ve. DQS MED has global resource pool of around 180 qualified product and system assessors spread across the globe. DQS Med is in the process of transi�oning from MDD to MDR.

MDSAP

MDSAP program is a Single Audit Program for Medical Devices adopted by 5 major regulated countries US, Canada, Brazil, Japan and Australia. It is mandatory to have MDSAP cer�fica�on to obtain the market clearance of medical devices to be sold in Canada and the other 4 countries recommends adop�on of MDSAP cer�fica�on as a prerequisite for gaining market entry. Medical Primary Packaging : ISO 15378

Pharmaceu�cal companies need to ensure that their own supplier audits fulfill relevant legal requirements. This is why when selec�ng a supplier of packaging materials, par�cular a�en�on needs to be paid to their ability to fulfill current GMP (Good Manufacturing Prac�ces) requirements. GMP has been restated as a legal requirement in order to ensure the health of consumers by reducing risk, including contamina�on and/or mix‐ups, in the pharmaceu�cal and food industries. A cer�ficate to ISO 15378, with its holis�c approach to GMP and quality requirements, is recognized throughout the world.DQS was the first cer�fica�on body to become accredited for ISO 15378 by the German Associa�on for Accredita�on (TGA) in July of 2007. With an independent and expert assessment of their management system, top management can be sure that the system is in conformance with the requirements of the standard. ISO 27001 (ISMS)

ISO 27001 is the only auditable Interna�onal Standard for Informa�on Security Management Systems (ISMS). This standard requires organiza�ons to assess the risks to their informa�on assets and select appropriate security controls to mi�gate those risks. This standard also provides a list of security controls to be used by the organiza�ons.

ISO 20000 (ITSM)

IT service organiza�ons and IT departments in organiza�ons rely on the ITSM best prac�ces from ITIL® to improve service quality and op�mize cost. Claims of compliance to ITIL® are o�en a self‐declara�on or based on an assessment report from a consultant. Third party cer�fica�on against ITIL® is not possible because it is not a contractual standard for cer�fica�on. In order to address this issue, ISO introduced ISO 20000‐1 in 2005, which provides requirements/specifica�ons for IT Service Management.

ISO 22301 (BCMS)

Organiza�ons must be able to con�nue opera�ons in the event of a disrup�ve, unforeseen circumstance(s), which could be caused by a major catastrophe or a minor incident. A Business Con�nuity Management System (BCMS) includes disaster management, emergency management, and other business con�nuity programs.

The eSourcing Capability Model for Service Providers (eSCM‐SP) was developed by the IT Services Qualifica�on Center (ITSqc) at Carnegie Mellon University. Informa�on security is mostly focused on data protec�on. The most popular standard used for this purpose is ISO IEC 27001. It does address some part of infrastructure security and privacy but not to the extent that other Cybersecurity standards cover infrastructure security.

ISO/IEC 27001, NIST standards, and GDPR at their core have the commitment to protect sensi�ve informa�on from unauthorized access, i.e. store, process, and transmit sensi�ve informa�on in a secured way, in common.

Both ISO and NIST require a security risk assessment, but ISO does not provide any method for conduc�ng risk assessment. NIST RMF could be a nice supplement for that purpose.

Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act

Part of US legisla�on that provides data privacy and security provisions for safeguarding medical informa�on. The HIPAA privacy rule is to protect pa�ent’s personal or protected health informa�on (PHI). Part of this unique legisla�on is the HIPAA Privacy Rule which provides federal protec�ons of personal health informa�on. Requirements for HIPAA are defined in the Code of Federal Regula�ons (CFR) Title 45, Part 164.

Organiza�ons are responsible for interpre�ng the requirements and iden�fying appropriate controls to sa�sfy the requirements. This has been a major challenge for organiza�ons. Some companies have discovered that the implementa�on of a management system according to ISO 27001 has helped to define and simplify processes in their compliance efforts. There is no cer�fica�on scheme available for HIPAA, however, an organisa�on with ISO 27000 cer�ficate, accredited with ANAB or DAkkS, you will have more credible evidence of HIPAA compliance.
