3. Gas systems
whb designs and manufactures HP and LP Gas
Pressure Reducing and Metering Stations.
The gas is transported normally by means of
pipelines under the pressure of 70 to 80 bar.
The end-user of the gas needs generally a
lower pressure. An HP Reducing Station is
required to reduce the gas pressure coming
by pipeline, for example down to 20 bar for
gas turbine applications. For most of the other
applications, an HP Reducing Station is required
as a first stage pressure reducing station
followed by an LP station to reduce the gas
pressure according to the requirements of the
end-user, mostly down to less than 4 bar.

4. Fuel oil systems
Fuel oil facilities from pump house till
burners are one of the most important
part of the power stations that use it
as main or spare fuel.
Fuel oil pumps, heaters, filters, flow
control, metering, safety shut-off and
control valves are main equipment that
are subject to engineering and supply
of whb.
whb's innovative design of valve train in
front of the boiler makes it possible to
combine all components into a compact,
factory pre-fabricated and tested station on a
high quality standard, as shown on the
pictures. This makes not only the installation
works easy, but also the operation and
maintenance. Increased safety through
internal interlocks, real quick closing function
(less then 1 sec.) through pneumatically
actuated reliable shut-off valves are other
important benefits of these stations.

Burner management station that includes oil flowmeasuring and metering, flow control and safety shut-off in front of the burner. Furthermore purging andatomizing steam and control air solenoid valves are alsoincorporated. The station is completely factoryassembled, wired to a control cabinet and tested.

6. Air and flue gas equipment
The huge amount of the air to be used for
combustion of fuel shall be supplied to the
furnace and the flue gas shall be exhausted
to the atmosphere by means of big
ventilators shown on the pictures.
For the fresh air supply to the furnace, Forced
Drought fans shall be installed. These fans
are mostly furnished with inlet air
silencers.
Induced Drought fans are used to feed a part
of flue gas into the furnace, for burning
optimization and reducing the NOx emission.
The flue gas shall be sucked from the boiler
and led to the stack by means of Induced
Drought axial fans.
whb makes engineering and supply of all
kind of fans and as well as dampers to
control the airflow and shut-off the air and
flue gas in ducts.
The vibration control systems will be
incorporated into the control system of the
fans supplied by whb.

The water to be used to produce steam
must be very clean and demineralized
so that scale forming in pipes and
equipment can be eliminated. Therefore
it must be treated.
whb’s engineering and supply ranges from
turn-key Water Treatment Plants (WTP) to
particular systems of it, such as Reverse
Osmosis Plant shown on the background.
Furthermore, whb supplies all kinds of
water and condensate valves and pumps for
WTP plants and cooling water systems.
For condenser of the plant, if it is cooled by
raw water taken from a river or sea, a
Condenser Ball Cleaning system is needed to
eliminate the fouling and bio fouling of
cooling water pipes in condensers because
of different kinds of particles in cooling
water, such as impurities, salts, corrosion,
macro and micro organisms. whb solves this
by cleaning the tubes periodically by means
of sponge balls that circulates automatically.
Another engineering and supply of whb is
turn-key chiller stations to acclimatize the
operation and control rooms. The chiller
station cools down a rather big amount of
water used in acclimatization of power plants
that locates in high ambient temperature
areas. The biggest Chiller Station whb
engineered and supplied is 5 x 2 GCal
turnkey plant that cools 1800 m3/h water
from 12 °C down to 6 °C.

For the power plants that has an open circuit
cooling system and uses river or sea water, a
Water Intake plant shall be installed. The
plant shall filter the water mechanically to
reduce the maximum size of impurities down
to 1 mm.
For this, differently sized gratings and finally
fine band screens are used in line.
whb’s biggest supply of such Water Intake
Plant was 5 x 42.500 m3/h plant.

8. Steam and condensate systems
whb`s supplies for steam and condensate are:
• Steam Conditioning systems that controls
the pressure and temperature of steam
for several applications, such as; turbine
by-pass, process steam conditioning,
pressure relief, etc.,
• HP an LP By-Pass Station that reduces the
pressure and temperature of the steam
for; cooling of reheater, cooling of final
super heater, pressure control/turbine by-
pass, to build-up controlled pressure in
the boiler, etc.,
• Safety Valves that blow-off
the steam to the
atmosphere in emergency
cases,
• Condenser Protection to
protect the condenser in
case of disturbance,
• Condensate pumps that
delivers the condensate
into the cycle again,
• Injection Valves that are
used for injection of water
into steam for temperature
reducing.

9. Automation
In a power station, there are thousands of
measuring points to be able to control the
temperature, pressure, flow, level, water
quality, pollution of environment, etc. All
these measurements are part of automation
of many functional parts of systems and the
whole station.
Numerous references and its experience
enable whb to make engineering and supply
reliable equipment for controlling of systems
in the form of control desks, cabinets or
panels, any kind of transmitters, analyzers
and recorders, alarm signalling units and
vibration control systems.

As for every plant, a power station also
needs many specific auxiliary equipment
such as Fire Fighting, Emergency Power
Supply, Pressure air Supply, Hydrogen
Production Plant, Closed Circuit TV-System,
Busduct System, etc.
whb has furnished several power stations
with high quality auxiliaries in the past and
is able to supply any auxiliary system trough
its long-term experience in the field.

11. Transmission and distribution
For the power transmission and distribution,
whb has several possibilities to furnish
engineering and supply equipment, such as:
• Transformers up to 400 MVA
• LV, MV and HV switchgears
• Earthing and Lightning equipment
• Circuit breaker, neutral earth cell and bus-
ducts for generators.
With its well experience, whb has supplied
